Garage Talk / 2018 Camaro the 350 427 and 302 Cubic inch motors are back!!!
« on: November 01, 2017, 05:10:39 PM »
Hey guys I just saw this interesting presentation on the 2018 COPO Camaro and at the end of the video they announce that with each COPO you can choose which motor you want installed, with the option of purcashsing each of the other 2 motors, that will VIN matched to the car. I was not as impressed with the 350 cubic inch motor annoucement since Chevrolet has had a motor in there line up with very close to 350 C.I. , but the announcement of a 302 I thought was very interesting, and makes me wonder if this will be the motor designated for use in the upcoming Z/28.

If Chevrolet came out with a 6th gen Z/28 that indeed had a 302 C.I. motor will that get customers in the show rooms to purchase?

of course I am sure it will depend on price, and with the extra marketing power they are bound to use, I assume the new Z/28 will be priced at around 75k, BUT will they offer it in more colors, and a few more options ?

Could you special order it in "orange crush" ?

All questions I guess we will find out in time. I did not see the dyno numbers for each COPO engine. if someone wants to post that.

Garage Talk / 2018 Camaro is Hugger Orange back?
« on: November 01, 2017, 03:28:43 PM »
Hey guys saw that Chevrolet was teaming up with Hot Wheels again for a special edition Hot Wheels Camaro. This time the exclusive color is Orange, and it is not metallic like the 5th gen "inferno orange" . It looks closer to the Hugger Orange of 1969. I think they said the orange is to reminiscent of the orange tracks they have made for the cars since 1968.
For the die hard H.O. crowd this may be what gets them into a 6th gen. I know a handful of CRG members have a 5th gen on here, but I have't heard many owning a 6th gen.

What do you guys think in general of the 6th gen?
( A little lighter than the 5th gen, for SS models about 30 more horsepower. )

Originality / dating Side post battery cables
« on: September 15, 2017, 03:31:01 PM »
So this came up recently while I was looking for an original side post battery cable (6297651 AV), the date on the back side of the terminal is (9B).
I looked at my positive cable and it is also dated (9B). I asked Gary what date is on the back of his negative cable of his October Z and he reported (12B)

I am curious if any other owners have there original side post cables and what the dates are on the back side of the terminal connection, and if anyone knows how to de-code these.

Thanks

Originality / 1969 Camaro L.A. Trim tag symbol....
« on: August 14, 2017, 12:21:18 AM »
So I was going through craigslist and came across this convertible, and when I looked at the trim tag pics, it appears the tag on this car has a (%) symbol, before the L.A. plant code sequence number. (it could also be c/o?)I am not real experienced with the L.A. format to begin with but this seemed like a odd symbol.
Is this common?

Well guys I saw this story abut a classic car dealer in Illinois that burned down, with 150 cars inside. I decided to look through his inventory online, to see if there was any notable or any historic cars in there.
Well I did find this 68 Camaro. ( I think the fire may have done this car a favor) :-X

Here is his site:

and here is the story on the fire:

Looks like a old style junkyard now.  :-\

Saw this car on ebay, it looks nice. Unfortunately no engine pics, or tag pics. Looks like it may have original paint?

Steve do you remember this car by chance?

Originality / 1969 early L.A. cars
« on: July 06, 2017, 07:04:46 PM »
So I have been meaning to start this thread for a little while now. I know there are many differences for the early production cars vs. late. I also wanted to see if there are many differences between early L.A. cars vs. Norwood.

One thing I noticed recently is my 10B L.A. car which has a 711 interior code, (black standard), and has metal seat belt buckles, where my 08C (late 69) norwood car, with the same interior code has plastic. Also both cars have the Z23 option.

Garage Talk / Who likes custom paint with a patriotic flare?

I saw this ad, and thought, this may be before my time, and a little wild. But for some of you guys, this car would have put you in the limelight back in the day.
Only 22k, and you could have a 1 of a kind fathers day gift! ;D

General Discussion / LM-1 car?
« on: May 29, 2017, 05:43:23 PM »
I saw this original looking 69 on ebay, and wondered if it would be a LM-1 car if the 350 is original to the car?
I am guessing the bumper guards were a option.( I haven't seen the larger bumper guards on a non Z car)

Any other items stand out?

Originality / 1969 Camaro Fan/clutch bolts ?
« on: May 26, 2017, 10:38:59 PM »
Hey guys, so I am swapping out replacement parts for original items, some from other members, some I had already, and a few Gems from the web. I had a extra Eaton fan clutch, and found and original fan for my car, but now I can't seem to figure out what the original style bolts would be to mount the fan/clutch assembly to the water pump.

So if any of you 69 Small block guys (with a fan clutch) out there has a original bolt and can snap a pic for me I would appreciate it.

This is for a early 69Z with 302 block, if it makes a difference.

Thanks in advance.

Saw this on craigslist, and did not look right to me.

I assume re-stamp since it is missing a digit on the pad for the VIN. Opinions please

General Discussion / My new project....
« on: May 03, 2017, 06:43:06 AM »
So I have been on the hunt for a 67 Camaro (driver type car)and have probably looked at about 6 or 7 in person, and many more on the net. I was set on finding a 4 speed car. Well I did find a really nice original one but it was an automatic, so I passed. I saw many junky ones and passed on them as well. So I thought maybe I should expand my search and added a few models into the mix. So almost everyday I would check ebay daily as well as craigslist and do some random searches. Well a few weeks ago I hit the jackpot.

It was a funny listing for a 69 camaro with a 302, but then had a super small pic of a white SS. It had only been posted for 37 minutes, so I emailed the seller and got lucky, since I was the first one to contact him. He said it was his uncles car who is 82 years old, and since his hip/knee surgury a while back he was ready to sell. I told him I was very interested and would be on the road quickly, and I knew he was a bit of a drive from me, I asked if he could be patient for me to get there, and let me be the first to see it.
He texted me a couple of real pics of the car, and I was blown away:

Originality / 1969 Z/28 spare tire hook size?
« on: May 02, 2017, 08:33:31 PM »
So I am doing some "research" for a 69Z, and it is missing the spare tire hook. I checked my neighbors stock 68 Camaro, and his is 8.5. I asked Gary on here and he had a couple, one of which is 9.5. So my question is what is the correct size for a 69Z, and was it exclusive to the Z, for any reason. Anyone with a 69 and a original spare tire hook size please chime in with the length.

(BTW this is for an early Los Angeles 69Z , if it makes any difference)

thanks

I would like to get some other options though
