That sound right....If I was really interested I might drive to SP NC and take a look for myself...If the partial vin. number on the block was even close to a block I'm looking for I'd go and check it out...

Thanks  Marty,

I hope this e-mail finds you doing well..I have been in communication with him myself...He seems to know just enough about the motor and transmission to be putting the right spin on it...He just sent me a response that the motor and transmission are not matching...So I'm inclined to believe it could be a restamp since he is not even trying to send me the partial vin. number off the block...

Decoding/Numbers / Motor and Transmission For Sale On E-bay
« on: August 14, 2011, 07:09:09 PM »
There is a Z28 motor and transmission for sale on e-bay. The motor is about and hour away from me if anyone needs any help on the motor. The pad numbers and the partial vin numbers on the transmission do not seem to match up..Can anyone tell shed some light on these numbers...
Block Pad # is V0324DZ (March 3, 69) and the transmission is #N127397. This looks like and earlier production date for the transmission...Any thoughts..

Wow !!!! Its hard to believe it was that cheap for a complete setup...I remember buying a set of Holley 660 (I think) double pumpers for my tunnel ram back then.  I recall them begin somewhere in the $100.00 to $125.00 price range, but I could be wrong.

Chick, AKA 68camaroZ28 and I were talking and this guy came up and asked...What will a car like yours sell for..$39K ? We kind of chuckled to ourselves and said not quite.  Then we got the fully story about cars like ours ( camaro's) that could be bought for less than $39K...

Then the person asked about the crossram intake setup, and when he was told what a set up would cost, you guessed it, we were wrong again.  Its kind of funny when you know what something cost, and the uninformed always  seem to know more than you do and they don't even own a car or setup for a basis of comparison..God has to love those folks !!!!

Thanks for the information.  Now, I'll be able to answer this question should it come up again.  I don't think is will be this guy though since he sold his 1979 Vega on Sunday !!! LOL,LOL

Just back in from unloading the trailer from the Super Chevy Show this past w/e, at the Maple Grove Raceway Park...What a nice facility, very clean and well maintained...

I did not ask, but based on a quick row count there must have been more than 450 plus cars and trucks there each day with Sunday being an even bigger turn out of cars and trucks...

According to one of registration guys on Saturday.  They sold out of registrations cards for the first gen. cars on Sat...So I'm thinking more than 30 first generation car there for the show on Saturday...There were at lest 10 cars in the GM Boulevard event...These were cars that received the tracks top picks..

There were some very nice camaro's there both days..A couple that I looked at a spoke to the owners were original Z-28.  I only wish I had taken some pictures this time..

I met 68camaroz68 "Chick" from this site.  What a nice guy.  We talked cars for quite some time..

One question that I was asked, that I never thought to ask anyone...What was the factory list/sale price for an original cross ram, carbs and linkage set up from the factory...I was guessing somewhere in the $750.00 to $1,000.00 price range.  How far off am I ?

Was there a patter in which the muffler and tail pipe clams were installled. Nuts straight down, 90 degree towards the front, 90 degree towards the rear, or were they installed randomly as they tighten them.

Even though the mufflers has only been installed on the car a little over a year, and the fact that the car has not seen any road miles since it was restored.  It was a royal pain in the butt to remove...

I finally ended up cutting it off...I will tell you that I had a pantic attack and about wizzzed my pants when I tried some heat on the tail pipes and the penetrating fluids caught fire...I felt like the big bad Wolf huffing and a blowing, to finally blow the fire out while under the car. All I could see is how this was going to look or explain this one to the insurance adjuster...

Thanks for the information though...

General Discussion / Re: X33 Cowl Tag Doesn't Look Right??
« on: June 20, 2011, 01:47:52 AM »
I'm no expert, but I seem to agree with you on this one...I don't recall a Trim 727 code for  X33 other than the 711 and 712...Here is a cowl tag number from another post that I searched before I responded..

02D = Built the Fourth week of February.
69-12437 = Coupe.
NOR = Built in Norwood Ohio.
727 = Standard Ivory/Black Bucket Seats.
50-B = Lower Color is Dover White and the Vinyl Top Color is Black.
X11 = non-SS396, non-Z28, with style trim

Maintenance / Muffler Removal
« on: June 20, 2011, 01:42:15 AM »
Any advise for removing a stock muffler. The muffler seems to be very tight (I'm sure a little rust is in the mix) and does not want come off, even with a little heat applied...I have sprayed some PB blaster on it to sit over night. I hope this helps...If this does not work, I might be going to the big set of channel-loc pliers.  Any advice will be greatly appreciated....

I'm having to replace the muffler due to one of the joint seals now leaking.  I removed the tail pipes to replace with some chrome tip pipes that did not fit correctly. I want mention the vendor, but they were so bad I had to send them back..

I found and bought a set of factory replacement Merit chrome pipes but the ends are for 2.250"outlets ..I have 2.000" tail pipes...Since my were like new I decided to send them off to be chromed....

Anyone looking for a set of factory replacement 2.25" outlet chrome tail pipes PM me...The part numbers are Merit 4235 and 4236...
