General Discussion / Quick to Judge Sometimes
« on: September 01, 2011, 01:23:19 AM »
Several months back, I requested some info. on a vin # for a guys car that I learned about.  A few weeks ago, I got an ear full (I mean an ear full) from one of his guys closest friend telling me just how much he disliked me for what I had done even though the person that owned car said it was OK to run the Vin# through this site.

First off - I would never intentally trash anyones car, especially on open forum with experts like some of the guys from this site.....How stupid would that be.. I let the guy vent and rant and finally just walked away saying man this sucks..He was not even a part of the original conversation that took place so he jump the gun too..

All the information that I got from this site tells me the car is a real x77 and that the paint code that I listed was incorrect.. I put paint code 52-52 instead of 57-57..As I had stated in my post the lighting was poor when we looked at the cowl tag and that I could have wrote down the wrong numbers...I will never make that mistake again...So, where am I going with this...

I went back and looked at my post and I can see where or when we read something that we jump the gun too quickly and call someeones car a fake, when maybe we really don't know. At this point, I'm not sure is I can undo any wrong doings if any, on my behalf.

Next time, I would only asked that we ask for more details or info before jumping to quickly and calling someones car a fake just incase, it's not.

My car is a 02D build date, which is Feb. fourth week...Did all 1969 production camaro's have a month and week build date (like mine)  or did this change sometime during the year.  I recall reading on one of the response post that an 06B was not a real number..Can some clear this up for me..

Block Pad # is V0324DZ (March 3, 69) and the transmission is #N127397. This looks like and earlier production date for the transmission...Any thoughts..

Originality / Muffler and Tail Pipe Clamps
« on: June 26, 2011, 01:09:33 AM »
Was there a patter in which the muffler and tail pipe clams were installled. Nuts straight down, 90 degree towards the front, 90 degree towards the rear, or were they installed randomly as they tighten them.

Maintenance / Muffler Removal
« on: June 20, 2011, 01:42:15 AM »
Any advise for removing a stock muffler. The muffler seems to be very tight (I'm sure a little rust is in the mix) and does not want come off, even with a little heat applied...I have sprayed some PB blaster on it to sit over night. I hope this helps...If this does not work, I might be going to the big set of channel-loc pliers.  Any advice will be greatly appreciated....

I'm having to replace the muffler due to one of the joint seals now leaking.  I removed the tail pipes to replace with some chrome tip pipes that did not fit correctly. I want mention the vendor, but they were so bad I had to send them back..

I found and bought a set of factory replacement Merit chrome pipes but the ends are for 2.250"outlets ..I have 2.000" tail pipes...Since my were like new I decided to send them off to be chromed....

Anyone looking for a set of factory replacement 2.25" outlet chrome tail pipes PM me...The part numbers are Merit 4235 and 4236...

« on: May 27, 2011, 01:54:39 AM »
Man am I ticked off...I just bought and installed a new GM OER steering wheel shroud and the silver trim is coming off..Am I to assume that they came this was from the factory painted silver not coated somehow, or is this just what we are getting these days with OER parts....If I need to paint it what color and type of paint would you recommend for repainting the silver stripping on the shroud....

Decoding/Numbers / Decoding a 02D 1969 Z/28 Transmission P9B18(O)
« on: May 14, 2011, 08:33:46 PM »
I can't make out the last letter on my transmission. I would like other opinions as to if the stamping make this an M20 M21 or M22. The stamp looks like an O instead of and open C...The last letter is up against the radius of the transmission and very hard to see if there is a break in the letter ...It's not clear even when I take a picture of it.. Its surely not and A or B, so I'm assuming it to be an M22...Your thoughts or opinion...

Originality / Yellow Decal
« on: May 03, 2011, 01:34:07 AM »
As I was thumbing through Rick's Camaro's catalog I came across a part number SBD-69,  Steering box oval yellow decal...So here is my question.  Where does this go on the steering box ? I can't say that I have ever seen this on a 69 steering box before...Would this be for a standard camaro, SS, RS, or Z28 or all of the before mentioned..
