General Discussion / Connecting rod bearings
« on: October 18, 2011, 03:44:37 PM »
My vehicle (early '67) has the L30 engine which I am rebuilding. I noted that the bearing suppliers offer standard and high performance bearings for this engine. I want to replace with the same bearings as it was built with, but have not been able to have the original bearings identified. The numbers on the rear of the con rod bearing shell are as follows: A circled capital A, followed by GMM400, with a number 58736 also. Can anyone ID this bearing so that I may replace it with the same type / quality?? Tahnks for any input.

I'm no expert, but was surprised to see a mechanical fuel bowl vent on a carb for a '69. I thought these were discontinued in '68. I have some older Q-Jets, and the numbers were not always aligned, but I'm sure someone else with more expertise will chime in soon - hopefully before you spend all that $$$$.

There are many diagrams with measurements (some here, and at Team Camaro - use the search function), so unless you find one locally, I would just build my own. I built mine this spring (with brand new steel rectangular tube), had less than $400.00 in it (Unpainted), but it's GREAT, especially if you are doing rails, floor or trunk pans, etc.., as it keeps everything square / level. Good luck on your build.

General Discussion / Re: a few questions about my 1967 rs ss

Just another question before you invest further $$$$. Did you verify the hidden vin numbers vs the other numbers on the car?? The taillight panel, open rivet at the trim tag, along with the engine color, made me "curious". Best of luck.

Nice project. I noticed you have no holes below the rear bumper for backup lamps, maybe someone changed out the taillight panel and forgot the holes?? I also own one with "wings", and when I had the block hot tanked prior to rebuilding I noticed quite a few areas were blue (under the chevrolet orange). The machine shop stated he see's quite a lot of blue on the old original blocks (again under the orange), and the paint is really tough as it doesn't come off in the tank, while all the other paint does.

You should find everything you need at the CRG (Camaro Research Group) website. Good luck, hope all works well for you.,

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 67 L30 Carb

  Thanks Ed,

Unfortunately, I have no POP, and the original owner can find no documentation - just wanted to be sure I was restoring too numbers correct, in the absence of documentation.

Decoding/Numbers / 67 L30 Carb
« on: May 12, 2011, 08:46:38 PM »
I've read the CRG reports on carbs, and understand that all 67's used Rochester QuadraJets, but it also states that Carter Manufactured them with the same numbers and coding, with the "Carter manufactured for GMC" on the main body. My question is - is it possible that the car may have been built with the Carter QuadraJet instead, as I have a 10B car, with the early Carter #7027202 DB with date codes between the engine and car assembly dates. ???

Restoration / OEM style full quarter panels '67 convert
« on: May 06, 2011, 11:40:16 AM »
Does anyone know of a reproduced "correct" style full quarter with the telephone handset stamp, and no vertical indentations at the door jamb attachment area, for an early build '67 (10B). Most have variations but can't seem to find the one matching my vehicles.

General Discussion / Radiator Application ??
« on: May 05, 2011, 10:07:42 PM »
I'm currently restoring a '67 vert, and the radiator that was in the car seems to be incorrect, and I've not been able to identify. It has the soldered on large tag as on 68/69's. 21" 2 row core (automatic) Harrison with IA and CS tanks, coded as FH. Anyone with an idea as to application ? Part number at bottom of tag is badly rusted, appears to be 302?300

Restoration / Re: Restoring original TRICO Wiper arms
« on: April 29, 2011, 12:12:28 PM »
Mike,

I too am in the process of restoring an early '67 (10B) convertible, and would like you to let me know how they came out (should you continue with the replating process), as I may need to do likewise. If all goes well with the resto of the wipers, I may also need to inquire as to the source of the rivet. Should you have anything I can assist you with in the resto, just PM or email me.
