FWIW, my original pump is a 692

Wow, he broke loose a long way from the launch pad - look at the smoke off the tires before he went sideways.  Turned on nitros maybe?
3  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: decode help - new to Camaro Z11 1969 pace car with 396 on: August 06, 2012, 05:41:58 PM
your VIN is a couple hundred before my 02D.  Cowl tag number from NOR is more than that, significantly, but they weren't in order.
4  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Anyone have any work done by Chrome East? on: July 30, 2012, 05:34:08 AM
Ogden chrome also does great work - they will send a pick up order with Fed Ex and turn most parts around in 2 weeks.  Bumpers are $300 straightened and returned as an example.
5  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Mild Modifications / Re: HEI Distributor Upgrade Advice Request... on: July 29, 2012, 06:32:07 AM
MSD Ready to run distributor with a blaster coil is a pretty nice set up - you can get a black cap to look more original but it will not have the points adjustment window.  The coil can be painted satin black to look original too.

Maybe it was a space saver spare vehicle or did they use the standard vert location tie down too?

If the test ride was videoed with larger tires on then the car is quicker then I guesstimated right?
Tire size and speedo gears always confuse me. Wink
Could be wrong, but I didn't think space saver spares were an option on a convertible and thought they used a different location than the standard coupe location?

Spare tire mount is in the wrong location in the trunk.  That's odd considering the comments about original trunk originality but guess someone might have replaced it and put it in the wrong location?  Doesn't appear to have the steering to trans lockout linkage but hard to tell from the pictures.  It does look like a nice car though.
10  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Maintenance / Re: Octane boost on: July 05, 2012, 09:23:51 AM
Moroso used to make a good additive that I used in the 80's- nasty stuff though, it was had a carcinogen in it, but it did make a big difference in the car I drag raced back then.  Don't think you can get it any more though.   Personally I would drain/siphone the low octane gas out and put some 91 octane in it, surely that is available around you somewhere?
11  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: Windlace-Orange Madness on: June 16, 2012, 03:24:55 PM
I just wiped my black replacments down with acetone and use hugger orange vinyl paint from heart beat and they have held up fine - don't think the door panel is hitting them really though, there's a slight gap, could be wrong.  Maybe put some type of weather strip lube on them so the slide easier on the panel?
12  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Maintenance / Re: compression on: May 22, 2012, 07:25:29 PM
I used to have 250 on a 350 with 11:1 pistons and 64 cc heads - I don't remember what cc the 302s heads were.  A 350 would have a little more compression with a comparable domed piston due to the stroke though.
13  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Maintenance / Re: Plug gap for Pertronix on: May 13, 2012, 06:18:22 PM
I am running .040" with no issues using the MSD blaster coil (painted satin black of course).  I have heard you can run .045 with these hotter coils but chose to be conservative.
14  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Top boot front lifting on highway on: May 09, 2012, 09:07:04 PM
I bought the better troop and don't have that issue
where did you buy it?  I might replace mine - but was also thinking about having either a stiffener or some weight sewn in the edge of this one to keep it in place.
15  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: 1969 radiator fan on: May 06, 2012, 06:24:50 AM
Well I found out why it's important to keep the rotating mass down - belt slip.  With an all steel blade with more blades the fan will slip on a fast reving engine.
