Originality / Paint under Cowl Pannel - color Z11
« on: December 04, 2010, 05:36:34 PM »
Ok, I did a search but didn't find exactly what I was looking for on the topic.  Z11 under the cowl panel where you can see through the vent, what color(s) are supposed to be where?  I understand the wiper linkage rods are flat black from other posts, but what about the well and the panel directly under the cowl - Orange, Dover White, or Flat Black.   The person restoring my car insistes its white with th well area flat black, I'm thinking it's all hugger orange.

Also, are the color(s) over spray or full paint?

thanks, Steve

Originality / Re: Z11 Rear bumper guards standard?

I'll do some checking - as I remember there'sa few bumper mounts I got with the car that don't look like they are for a steel bumper, their burried in a parts box in the garage somewhere.

Well, I guess I can go either way then - no way to tell which one it had since I have neither broadcast sheet or window sticker.   Thanks for the help.

Got it, thanks for the information.  This car has the heavier sway bar up front right now, and I'm guessing it's original.  Does that mean it had the heavier suspension by chance?

Thanks, William,

Is either of the options (G31 or V32) supposed to be listed on the firewall tag?  If so, mine didn't have either because there isn't a stamp for that option.

Originality / Z11 Rear bumper guards standard?

Seems most Z11s I have seen have rear bumper guards.  Mine didn't have a rear bumper when I bought it - so I've always had an OEM with the bumperets on it.  Curious what was standard on these and if bumper guards were optional if there's a way to tell if it was included on this one originally.  I believe this one had a Endura bumper on it originaly as there was a rusted out one included with the parts when I bought it back in 84, don't know if that matters for the rear of how to tell if it was original either.

General Discussion / Re: Octane booster?
« on: October 13, 2010, 11:33:12 PM »
When I used to drag race in the early 80s, we ran Moroso Octane booster - came in a 1 gallon can - was supposed to work well and it did stop the pinging on my 11:1 engine - 240lbs cranking pressure on compression tests.  Not sure if they sell it anymore or what it actually did in terms of raising the octane rating though.  As I remember, I added a quart to 15 gallons plus or minus.
