General Discussion / Re: Ram style exhaust manifolds
« on: October 25, 2005, 04:17:32 PM »
The "ram's horn" type used on Corvettes, full-size cars and trucks are more efficient than the A-F-X "log" type, but there are interference issues when used on a Camaro; that's why we have the "log" type.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Missing engine VIN

They'd probably leave the VIN derivative stamp off so it could be added later, depending on what car they were going to install the motor in, or sell it and let the buyer add the VIN to match his car.  :(

Maintenance / Re: Wiring Questions
« on: October 19, 2005, 04:24:37 PM »
On my (original) '69 with factory gauges and deluxe interior, the black/white ammeter sense wire is spliced as indicated in the reply above (no separate wire connected to the horn relay buss terminals), and the orange glove box light wire is an integral part of the I.P. harness (no separate wire plugged into the fuse block). The only separate wires plugged into the fuse block are for the rear defogger and the cowl hood harness. :)

Originality / Re: Early 69 Z/28 wheels.
« on: October 19, 2005, 04:09:34 PM »
The date on that wheel is August 20, 1968; Jerry's book indicates that the "AD" wheels were used through December, 1968, and the "YH" wheel replaced them in January, 1969.  :)
