OK thanks - other than that, are they wider than the Camaro?

Is the dash grab bar on a 68 Camaro different than that of the same year Firebird? If so, does anybody know what the differences are?

Originality / 396 Big Block Water Pump Back Plate, 68
« on: October 13, 2017, 08:44:56 PM »
I need to confirm the correct water pump rear cover plate for my '68 396 "284" short pump - which is correct:
The flat, plain version, or,
The version with the flared outer lip on it??
I have seen the flat plate on '65-'66 original pumps, but do not know when they changed the rear plate design.
Also, are the 1/4 x 20 attaching bolts 7/16" hex head like the Timing Cover, or are they flat-headed, slotted screw heads?

Any help greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Thanks for your responses. Yes, I was questioning this solely on the fact that the holes were pierced, and not stamped.

Originality / 68 Core Support - Standard vs RS..............
« on: September 11, 2017, 08:24:14 PM »
On a 68 RS, I do not have the original Core support, but found one from a 68 Standard. My question is, on the washer bottle mount, would the factory original core support on the RS NOT have the 3 triangular pattern holes pierced on the left side of the core support, as the RS mounts the bottle farther back on fender?
Does anybody have an original 68 RS on which they could confirm these holes pierced or not?
Thank you.

In 68, with the console gauge package, was the line originally copper or plastic?
Thank you.

Originality / Re: 68 Big Block Radiator Codes

So it is only the tag that is affixed to the tank that specifies the core
The OL only denotes the larger tank itself

Originality / 68 Big Block Radiator Codes
« on: June 26, 2017, 02:55:11 PM »
I am of the understanding that the 67-68 Big Block radiator code on the pass side tank for manual trans is "OL", and this is for a 4-row core (?) but I can't seem to find what the code would be for a 23-inch, 3-Row core, Big Block, manual trans.

Does anybody know what the correct code for the pass tank would be? Original/survivor examples.
Thank you.

Originality / Re: 1002 7 blade fan - 68 396
« on: June 22, 2017, 07:42:46 PM »
Thank you Ed; I had already read this. Since the reference to the 1002 fan is, again,  "limited observed", I was looking for confirmation of l34/35 (real-life cars) of having being equipped with the 1002 fan. Reference car is 68 l34 non-AC. I see no documentation stating the 1002 fan was never used on the L34/35.
I also was under the impression that only the solid lifter engines received the 3871276 fan due to the higher revving engine requiring a larger fan-to-clutch mounting circle.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Originality / 1002 7 blade fan - 68 396

I was wondering if the "1002" (last 4 #'s) 7-blade clutch fan would be correct for a 68 L34, non-AC, Camaro?
The info I have is a bit ambiguous - "limited usage". No reference to Big Block.
If not, then which would be the correct fan for this application?
Thank you.

In reply to Ed - I obtained another one, and it fit perfectly; actually arrived the same day of my entry on this forum.
