Clem, I don't think anyone here is trying to devalue the car or protect Jerry, during his inspection Jerry still did confirm this was a numbers matching '69 Z28 and that is great news. We had an opportunity to chat a few weeks ago and I found you to be a very pleasant car guy, you definitely knew your stuff and did not seem like someone who would forget most facts especially the color of this car, you were very clear in our conversation about the color and how you ordered the car. Wish we could just get away from this paint discussion and focus on a very cool restoration of a '69Z.

Why haven't the Norwood guys and gals chimed in...in the past or now? Especially in the past if procedures were not expressed to there recollection?
I think this is a valid question, keep in mind most of these folks did this as a job and may not actively be in hobby, they would also be 43+/- years older and perhaps do not utilize technology like some of us do. It also took someone to organize them, spend his own money, interview each one of them and translate that information into a book and I am sure this was not easy to do. I have always been a person that tries to see the other side of the story as well. I have read this string and there might be a legitimate reason why Phil may not be able to answer specific questions or provide examples from his book, maybe publishers/distributors don't want to see that...No idea if his information is correct or inaccurate but with anything else in life you will need to decide for yourself. Personally, being in the hobby actively for a few years and still learning I would order a copy of the book and see for myself.

The Sellers response to the question on E-Bay was a little funny as he was trying to get his point across and not really hiding anything, by the nature of his response I get the sense he truly believes it's the real deal and offering a money back guarantee to prove his point. I am not an expert with these stamping so don't know either way. I think wilma99 is a Yenko.net member, If it's the same person he usually has some pretty cool cars for sale and is a very active member.

The Trim Tag will have an X33 or X77 on Norwood built Camaros however there are exceptions. Pre X code vehicles and anything built at the VanNuys/LA plant did not use an X-Code. These cars are often confirmed by using engine, transmission and rear end stampings (mostly engine stamping). The Vin will let you know if the car was a V8, V6 and coupe or convertible.

This dealer has been around for a while, I think they sell on consignment. I remember they had a Dusk Blue '69 Z for sale on their website site. I contacted them and spoke to someone who seemed somewhat knowledgeable but the car had been sold. He told me they have access to all kinds of private collections and could get what I need. I guess after reading the above posts they can also apparently build me anything I need....
