1  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: pad stamp? on: December 08, 2014, 06:13:38 PM
is there a way for a rookie to verify a genuine 302 pad stamp?  how do you know if it's real?  is it the letter size, style, or what?  what sizes are the engine code and vin?  do you just measure the letter height?
If you want to know if it's real, post a picture...Joe

3  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Air cleaner base on: November 26, 2014, 06:54:41 PM
That's interesting. My 68 z28 (02E)has a bottom like dannystarr's car & & my 69 396(08E 69) has an air cleaner that the fresh air tube is 90 degrees off the side of the carb. I know it's correct but don't know about the z28. Thanks, Joe

What is the difference between 1st & 2nd design air cleaner assm (not special ducted) for a 1969 302. Has this been discussed? Thanks, Joe

Is the air cleaner base for a 1968 z/28 & a 1969 Camaro 396 325hp the same? thanks,Joe

1968 Z/28 with 4:56 gears had one from the factory. Not like those pictured...Joe

Correct me if I'm wrong here but I thought the standard bore 302 was actually 301.74 which when bored .030 still made it legal for SCCA ruling of 5.0L. Maybe 5.0L is a little looser term than actual cubic inches...Joe
13  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: My New '68 Camaro Z/28 Butternut Yellow on: October 01, 2014, 06:03:18 AM
Painted around the emblem is good. Most people don't put the emblem back on. Mine has factory spoilers & when you pop the lid, it floats about 4 to 6". The rods on mine are 2 different sizes. The front spoiler was part of the package. There should be screw holes in the valance.
1969 with a short spoiler mean it has a 1968 spoiler on it or it's about 2" narrower that the back of the car....Joe

The previous owner & the currant owner have been on this site in the past. The car is another 02E 68 z/28 from Los Angeles. The vin is 124378L332229...Joe
15  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: 1968 Z28 on: September 08, 2014, 06:05:38 AM
Mine hasn't been converted. I've owned it 38 years & it still had factory paint on it. FireZ has a 02E LA car that has 302 badges. I've not seen him here in a while. I would be interested in his finish date. Because of his & 2 others, I've suspected the change happened during 02E production...Joe
