Thanks for posting that, it has what I wanted to see.  Were you able to tell the date code at the front center underside (bottom center if looking at the pic shown).

Date code on the lid was T31.....Joe

We are referencing this long screw?

That's the one he's referring to. That's the one I gave him specs on...Joe

Appreciate all the comments but I just don’t care for column shift.

Dare to be different!! There are many of us who really like a 3-speed column shifted vehicle, and it's one feature that is rarely seen any more.

Great thief deterrent. There's many that wouldn't know how to shift it :)

67/68 have a threaded mast. 69 has no threads on the mast. Mast in 69 was retained by a nut.....Joe

The difference is it has bolt you're asking about has no washer & it's 1.710 of thread

Doc. The screw you need looks alot like B-13230 except no washer & it's 1.710 inches of thread. No markings on the head. I didn't see anything like it in AMK. My hangers are stamped for that type screw. The other set I have are stamped for using a bolt & nut. Both are assm line originals....Joe

I don't agree with that. I believe that several vendors were used. If the hole strips out the nut & bolt won't lay flat on the bracket. The 1st picture is a 12k survivor 375hp that was judged 3 years ago at MCACN. This is a Norwood car built 05A. The next picture is my ss396 which has 157k miles. Built in Norwood 08E 1969....Joe

Doc. I just took a quick look at my original exhaust 69 ss396 & it has the bolts as you decribe. I can get those specs tomorrow. Interesting though. I have a pair of original tail pipes out there that still have those hangers & they have the nut & bolt combo.
I just found a picture of the 12k ss396 that Guy had. It's has nut & bolt. His car & the 2 pipes I have are non chrome tail pipes. Mine has chrome...Joe

Originality / Re: Fuel Pump original?
« on: January 22, 2024, 11:51:20 AM »
It was some company's replacement but not assm line original. What you're looking for will have the AC logo & the flange will have a 2 letter code followed by 40568. Yours should have an "H" as the second letter indicating the pump was built in 1968 for a 1969 car. That pump is getting harder to find but if you get lucky enough to find a core, it can be rebuilt by Fred Ballard in California....Joe

I have done research on these pumps. The 40568 was made from 8/1967 through 9/1969 & used on all 396 engines. The earliest 40727 I ever found was 11/1969 & it was original to a 1/70 LS6 Chevelle. I still watch on a daily basis to see what else I can add to my research....Joe

Not original. Should be a 40568 AC. What is the assm date of your engine?....Joe
