I have an MU engine, I believe with the same 0819 (or very close to) assembly date, that I bought for my car because the VIN was within about 400 of my 11B K250 LOS car.   Partial VIN on it is 7L116xxx (car is in storage several states away and I couldn't find a picture).  It must have been jammed waaaaaay back in the engine storage area, to be used about 2 months later that this one.

I recall on my 67 L48 block there were a couple stamps around the machined surface of the block where the intake seats.  I believe it was John Z who said those were engine plant inspection markings.  Just a random thought, but has anyone ever seen those up near the front stamp pad as well, and might be these phantom stampings sometimes observed?  But I think mine were toward the rear side of the block.  Just a SWAG.

Surprised they left that aftermarket side molding on it.

IMO, if an "E" die broke, I highly doubt the resulting "L" on the TT would have such sharp, continuous, and straight definition around all the edges.  Odds against that occurring would be astronomical.

Here's old links to plugging the hot-slot holes, or you can do a search using that term.  I think 7/16 brass plugs work best, but you'll want to verify first.

The pitting should still allow a seal at the neck, but maybe use a little form a gasket first to be sure?

Or you can fabricate your own with a couple larger round punches.  I suspect the original were a bit more dense and thicker that what they sell at your FLAPS today.  McMaster has this felt, some off-white:

As I recall, the + terminal is the one that always corrodes and caused problems, and why they only put the felt there.  If there's a chemist in the house, they can tell us about ions etc. and why the case.

LOS cars may have had a higher survival rate than NOR/rust belt as well, bringing the numbers a little bit closer to parity today.  And then there's perception versus reality.

I don't recall seeing those used on cars fresh from the assembly plant, with top post batteries, back in the day.  But we'll see what our experts say.

4 loose trim tags for sale, 3x 1967 Camaros and 1x 1968 Firebird. All assembled at LOS.
67 Camaro Body numbers: LOS 1271 LOS 22466 LOS 18146
68 Firebird Body number: LOS 53
CL ad image:

In case the picture is ever lost, to further clarify these LOS tags, since in 67 they used similar body numbers for each of the four possible body/interior type combos and both need to be considered:

67 12437 LOS 18146  coupe standard interior
67 12437 LOS 1271  coupe standard interior
67 12437 LOS 22466  coupe standard interior
68 22637 LOS 53 Firebird

The production date listed on the NCRS reports - anyone know what that date is based on, and is it an actual date or approximate like the LOS Fisher Body scheduling code?

I seem to recall it's metal on metal where they screw together, and on a good day can be tight unless you can possibly get some type of lube on the threads.  If a PO stripped them, you may wind up destroying part of it when disassembling.  My best suggestion is to look at the AIM or repops to fully understand how it fits together, then have at it.  Make sure you are turning the piece up under the dash in the right direction, and you may have to go back and forth a lot until it frees up.

When turning the retainer sleeve up under the dash, ensure the "insides" or housing assembly that the knob assembly inserts into from the front side of the dash, isn't also turning.  If you have an AIM it's UPC 12, Sheet B6.  I believe it's a 14 gauge orange wire to the lighter.  Is the ground to the dash good?
