General Discussion / Pre-assembled std door panels...quality
« on: February 04, 2019, 02:59:27 AM »
I have been researching pre-assembled standard interior black door panels for my 69 camaro. Camaro Central offers a complete set (f&r) for $339.95 (OER brand?) while a complete set of Legendary's are $700 (are these manufactured in house by Legendary?).  Does anyone have experience with both? I understand and accept that better quality costs more, so is there that much difference in the quality?  TIA   jess

Ok, so I'll have to start looking for old firebirds, how late (year models) will bolt on and work?

Was an electric trunk latch available in 69? Is there a latch from any other car that will bolt on a camaro and work? TIA, jess

The later small block Nova A/C suit cases would be the same as a 69 big block the only difference they are brown instead of a black grey texture
Checked with a friend that has lots of 68-74 Novas that he is parting out, and he has a few factory air cars. He looked at them a couple days ago and tells me the POA/STV is on the fender side of the box on all of them???? Is the box still the one I would need for a bb 69 camaro(except for the color)?

this is interesting, wonder what the reasoning was behind this, reduction of parts inventory, one part instead of two? Makes sense, why have a "small block" version, when the "big block" version would serve both requirements.

Thanks Kelly, probably be a while before I get to that part,  btw, love your car. I imagine you get a lot of "wow"s when you open the hood.

You can not just put an engine side reproduction BB cover on a SB suitcase, you have to change the whole suitcase
Wow, I've been interested in, owned, and tinkered with camaros for 40 years and did not know that! Is there a thread here, (or on another site) that shows the differences? Or maybe just some comparison pics? Thanks guys, learning more all the time. :)

Is this a pic (found on the net), of the baffles between the radiator support and the fenders?  (it's been 20 years since I took the car apart, but I think they looked like this) jess

Thanks everyone, I thought that A/C cars had extra baffles on the ends of the radiator support (this car had/has them) but I had forgotten about reading about the above mentioned shield. HBCity offers one http://www.heartbeatcitycamaro.com/store/product/28311/1969-Camaro-Air-Conditioning-Shield-396/   :o .  Anyone got a recommendation on bb exhaust system with chrome tips?

Thanks William....

Questions.....

let's see.....
A/C housing on the firewall   (is this just the engine side of the box, it's commercially available?)
Motor mount frame brackets  (covered, got a 35 yr old NOS BB set)
All engine bracketry; alternator, power steering, compressor (got bits and pieces )
Transmission crossmember…TH400 or 4-speed, each unique to BB (got 400 crossmember, they're same bb/sb?)
BB 4-speed shifter used a different mounting bracket & rods (n/a, using 400 automatic)
Accelerator rod (got repop bb rod, will it mate up to tripower?)
Line to oil pressure gauge (repop available?)
Battery cables(repops?)
Radiator & shroud…A/C BBs had an additional shroud mounted in the frame(anybody got pics of these?)
Power steering pump reservoir(available?, have original sb pump and reservoir)
Front springs (best pic, part numbers?)
Exhaust system engine pipes(good aftermarket with chrome tailpipes?)

thanks to all.

I have a set of 8 GM ring packages, #10117709. Would these be suitable for a street 427, with Sealed Power L2300NF30 pistons?
TIA, Jess
