« on: May 11, 2022, 12:49:41 AM »
I came across a 69 Z28, NOM, missing most z28 parts in engine area, no docs, early pre- x code car,

condition from owner is about #3 daily driver with no issues... Car is a turn key...  something you wouldn't worry about getting a bug splat on it...

I just don't know what these cars are worth now a days....

Can someone help me ?

Thanks Joe

PS I believe the car is a real Z from what I checked so far...

General Discussion / I've been a GHOST to long...
« on: May 11, 2022, 12:31:18 AM »
Yikes !!! where to begin, I don't  dare blink... if I do another decade might fly by...
sorry guys I never meant to vanish... not sure when I last was on here logged in ...but would not be surprised if it was 2013 or even earlier...

I use to go to all the Camaro Nationals since 1990... sadly without any of my cars...  but none the less I always had a blast... beautiful cars and always good folks... I even started the Connecticut Camaro Club and after a few gatherings that too was put to the back-burner...

These were not my intentions... but here we are...

As some of you know I have been a US Army Paratrooper since 1983.  Duty kept me away from home more than I wanted.  I always thought I would have time in the near future.  So now it is the time... I am working at getting something running this year.

As you may not know I medically retired from the service... got banged up too many times I reckon. Any-who I was diagnosed with PD.  Life has been a whirlwind ever since... just more challenges to over come... one thing about Paratroopers is we never give up! Never!  and mind you I am not looking for pity or anything, this is just to let you know so when you see this grey haired old man shaken around you'll know....

One thing this past year that was pretty earth shaking was loosing my long time good friend , brother and Camaro buddy that many of you know...  Warren Malkin,Jr.

We always talked about everything from politics, our Constitution, including current events and always with some humor tossed in.... but mostly we talked about cars,...in depth discussions about Camaro's, Camaro parts, OEM finishes, racing, restoration, you name it.  Warrens research and discoveries are legendary... without even mentioning his rare parts wheeling-dealing,  ...often I think how fortunate I was to have such a good friend that could understand and articulate Chevrolet like a second language and instantly bring forth knowledge where the processes, part numbers, assemblies, changes, documents , AIMs bible and verse, and more from the top of ones head... like Kung Fu's The Master "...snatch the pebble from my hand Grasshopper." all for the love of a car... especially a 1969 Camaro...  With that said there are many of you who IMHO are also masters of this hobby... I could name names who merit their own clout but I'ld be writing even longer.

As I close let me point out where we were at the start of this Phenomenon and where we are today....I for  one would never have guessed it in a hundred years... just realize that we each helped some way some how... life is to short and we all are on a journey... the question is what is your journey's destination?
Are you Listening?

So Get out and drive that car, lay down some rubber, shift through the gears and savor every moment of happiness....

your humble Camaro Brother,  GI_Joe (Grasshopper)

General Discussion / 1968 Camaro standard lower valance types
« on: August 24, 2014, 10:13:40 AM »
Hello everyone: I hope this finds my Camaro family doing well.

I recently discovered I had two standard but different lower valances for my 68 currently in the body shop... one has additional holes and flanges on the inward lips... I know I should have taken some photos... but in my state of mind the CRS disorder must have flared up... as I never even thought about photos, which really amazes me when I do these things.. typically I take millions of photos...  Just so there is no added confusion; I am NOT talking about the RS lower valance.  The only things come to mind is possible bumper guards or a change within the production year... and I think 67 is different ruling that out

I'll post some photos asap...

PS  You all better watch out... This CRS stuff is contagious....so please be aware of it

What's that CRS you say?

Here is a 1111170 dist for a 67... but it is not as claimed.  I truly feel bad for those who end up with these parts who are innocent of the fraud...

I hate to bring the light but it seems these crooks are running ramped again on eBay... and eBay is guilty of promoting it.

for what it is worth and thats not much...

if you can't see it I will not educate the bad guys so try to learn as I have to spot these.  It truly sucks to be the buyer of a big dollar item and not even have the real deal.

been there.. but if i can stop it by sharing I will.

General Discussion / AMD quarters - update
« on: January 22, 2013, 01:46:07 AM »
ALCON:  (ie..military for all concerned)

the AMD quarter panels were as promised... excellent gauge thickness  and they appear as perfect as the OEMs...

of course a little tweaking here and there as with any metal body part ... but I wanted to report this good news...

I will update more as time permits... GI JOE

PS
For those who recommended I use Matt's Camaro's http://www.mattsclassicbowties.com/contents/en-us/d1.html ... A1+

very good... much thanks to all for the advice...   ;D

General Discussion / flow chart or program restroration
« on: January 22, 2013, 01:35:53 AM »
Does anyone use a .... or has anyone used a restoration program or flow chart method to keep them tracking on their restoration project?

I have used a method called Critical planning method and or PERT in the past for construction civil engineering work....   i am thinking of putting something together...

Basically I have those Camaro restoration books... they are helpful to a point... I find it is more paper drafting, asking others who have been there done that, taking documenting photos and just knowing what is next to getter done... any thoughts???

Restoration / What supension parts to use
« on: January 22, 2013, 01:03:43 AM »
Hi everyone,

I hope I am not asking too many questions... I am just trying to get this done right the first time...

Anyways I hope this finds everyone doing well... everyone here at CRG has been helpful and I thank you all for the advice and help...

my question today is "What suspension parts to use and why?"

Should I use one type over another, one brand or manufacture, what pit falls to avoid, what to make sure is done, (i.e. type of coating, plating, bolts and procedures used, etc...)

...and if I am asking too many questions or not sharing enough info, or whatever...I can handle tough love so tell me straight up... that's the only way I can be sure I improve, do the right things, etc...

once last thing, please let me know if you are looking for a part, some help or something... I want to be able to help my fellow Camaro buddies where I can... just helped a Camaro buddy move some cabinets into his place... an extra pair of hands goes along ways...so does an occasional get together for a beer or two..  :D

I am planning on keeping as much of the suspension as original as possible... but ball joints, bushings, etc...I expect will need replacing...

General Discussion / beware of the look alike 68-Z28 fan
« on: January 08, 2013, 12:51:53 PM »
This fan is up for sale on ebay... ad claims it is a rare fan but BEWARE this is not the real McCoy Z28 Fan which is not disclosed in the ad but the big dollar price tag sure is... leading you to think it is real but it is not.. so just be aware of this since the ad is not clear about what it is...

General Discussion / building a garage
« on: December 20, 2012, 11:14:52 AM »
This might not be the place but... here goes

I am considering building a 3 car garage... soon...  any advice???

I am considering a 3 car where two bays are open and high enough to accommodate lifts... 3rd bay with above storage space..

i am thinking of 3500 psi concrete floor, 36x24

garage height is limited to only 1.5 stories high...

Any ideas on cost /SF for some thing like this?

What size garage doors would you recommend?

What Lifts would you recommend and why?

Any advice on climate control, insulation, frost protection etc....  here in New England we need to go 42" down below the frost line...

something like this I think...

...maybe I should be thinking of moving south to warmer weather... LOL   ;D  GI Joe

Anyone know anything about converting a 68 RS fender to a standard fender?  (lots of kits and info the otherway...)

My friend has a used set of RS fenders but has a standards Camaro and is stuck... is it possible to convert them to standard use and/or is it worth doing or better off re-selling them???

thanks
