Alfred had sent me a few more 1969 pictures of the car.  He took the car to California for a while and lived in the San Francisco Bay Area.  He said it was real cloudy some mornings so he put fog lights on the car.  I have the fog lights out in my shed right now.

It was fairly well kept but had some dents from a few fender benders.  About 1/3 of the car had been repainted.  Before I bought it, it was kept for about 10 years next to the ocean in Florida.  I think that the salt water was turning some areas on the body, like the dash panel, into swiss cheese.

OK.  Will do.

I have the Rallye Green 69 Z/28 on the far right.  It was in the Camaro Nationals Bowtie class last year and this year it will be in the Legends class.  I’m hoping it does well and I really want to thank all of the folks on this site who gave me a tremendous amount of help. 

I am the 9th owner of the Z, and I’ve talked to all of the former owners except for one.

Almost all of the former owners were Air Force mechanics and some are Vietnam vets.  Three of the former owners, Alfred, Larry and Jack are going to the 2014 Camaro Nationals.  It is going to be awesome for me to get their pictures with their former car.

Alfred bought the car in 1969 and this is Alfred with the Z in 1969 at at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. I really like all the daily drivers in the background of this picture.


Larry bought the car at Shepard AFB in 1974.  He went to the Camaro Nationals last year and is going again this year. 
The picture on the front page of the CRG has Larry in the drivers seat at the Camaro Nationals. 


Jack bought the car in 1976 and had the car for 35 years.

Originality / Re: 69 Z28 carb fuel line bracket.

a year or two ago I saw an original bracket go over $500 on the auction site. I paid over that for mine but it was attached to the original carb 

Holy Cow!

There was one that sold in May 2012 on EBay for $504.  The bidding started at 99 cents.  It was EBay item auction number 220998003115.

I saved pictures of it.  Here is one of the pictures of that bracket in all it's fraudulent glory:

Thanks guys!!!

The pictures were taken by Bruno Ratensperger in Old Saybrook CT.  He lives about an hour away from my house.  

It was a fun drive down to his place with the white car.    I had to do about an hour of cleaning after I got there though.

It was not nearly as much fun to trailer the Z, but I didn't have to do any major cleaning.

As far as clones/tributes/recreations go, we shouldn't discourage that at all. I'm no better for having a real Z than the guy who has a clone. In essence, the guy with the clone is just trying to enjoy the hobby he otherwise might now be able to. Where a line should be draw (and has been for the most part, in thanks to CRG and TC), is to point out the 'clone' cars intentionally passed as real.

I love all 3 of my first gens, but my 'clone' car is definitely the most fun.  

Clone car - A huge burnout up the street and I get a 10-beer salute from the neighbors. Definitely a fun car.  I have registered this car with the CRG as a 'clone'.



Numbers matching Z - I'm paranoid about even taking it to a local car show.

We;ll call that one 'in process'..      and I bet you made all your panels on that english wheel I see in the background?  

HA!  In process x 10.  All of the "overseas" panels were horrible and needed major work to make them acceptable.

As my son is getting older, he's starting to get more interested in cars.  It's not easy though since he like to spend his free time with TV and video games.  I drag him to car shows, out crusing around the neighborhood, and have him help out.

Last week he asked me who gets my Camaros when I die.  lol.  I guess he might be a little more interested than I initially thought.

I wasn't sure if mine were correct without the screws on the passenger side. I knew they were original, but I thought maybe the hex screws broke off at first glance,
