ok Captain John      this is what i have been able to determine as far as this rear end goes. it is not a posi, much to my dismay. The ring gear shows it to be a 308 gear built in feb 1969. On the pass side front of the axle housing it is stamped PA 0217 C 1.  If you look at the back of the diff cover as if it were a clock, with 1200 being straight up dead center of the cover,to the left at about 10 oclock on the housing is stamped B 49( upside down) To the right about 2 oclock on the housing is stamped con 1 (upside down). To the left of the cover on the housing about 8 oclock is stamped 67890. Hope i have explained this relatively clearly. If you know what any or all of these stamps mean please educate me. Help me if you can.  Jimbo

:D :D :D Hi All     Over the years i have had many collectible cars like most of us on this site. My first real collectable was a 67 rs ss hard top lt1 4 speed camaro i bought just out of high school in 1975.  After 3 years of keeping this car on the road as well as miles of burning rubber and a glove box with its share of stunting tickets in it i had to sell the car. A decision i regret to this day.  Since then i have had a 62 nova rag,66 beaumont 2 door hard top, 64 beaumont 2 door hard top, 68 mini, 67 fire bird rag top, 65 chevy short box step side, 71 camaro, and 3 years ago i completed a 58 impala hot rod. Last summer a fella wanted the impala more than i did and i sold it for 38 large.  In september i bought a 67 rs ss ragtop tribute camaro originally from texas. It was white with z stripes and a zz4 engine with 2000 miles on it. It is now finished.  The car is now 2010 gm carbon flash black with a turquoise deluxe interior  and a turquoise nose stripe. Thank you to all on this site who helped with their knowledge last fall when i was deep into the resto. here are some pics of my ride.  Thanks again. Jimbo

Restoration / Re: cowl induction air cleaner 67
« on: March 07, 2011, 12:36:38 AM »
My car is a 67 rs ss tribute, mild custom, rag top.Whether it is "correct" or not is not an issue for me.  When i bought the car it had a very nice steel cowl induction hood on it.  I have seen other 67s with a cowl induction setup on them and thought it looked great.  As far as the shakers being removed at some point, i dont think that is so earth shattering when you consider the cars age and the many owners i am sure it has had.  I have done a complete mild custom restoration on the car and i am happy with how it turned out. Pics to come.

I am going to the portland swap meet in late march, early april. Hoping to find a cowl induction air cleaner setup for my car. Does anyone have a pic they could put up here for reference.  Also i would like to replace my mono leaf springs with a multi leaf of some sort.  What are my options for a direct bolt on.  Looking for cocktail shakers also.  my car is a 67 rs ss tribute, will i have a problem bolting the shakers up front due to the fact my car is a clone or is it an easy job.  Also is anyone else going to the portland meet that would like to grab a beer or two?   Jimbo

hi all i have a 67 ragtop that is an rs ss tribute. can someone tell me what color rims were offered with this car. it has a set of original camaro ralley rims with the beauty ring and the chrome center cap ,mexican hat style, bow tie logo and chevrolet  motor division lettering. not to be confused with the corvette rally type hat. these rims are now silver, the car is black and a bit of a mild custom so concourse is not important. is silver correct and did they come black. or any other color?  thanks jimbo    ???
