Yes, it IS a great color!  I'll take some pics and post some as I work on it.  The pics of the exterior will be kind of selective.  Like only the patches where the paint is still decent... lol

Agreed.  I mentioned that.  But I will say that seeing pictures of the cars painted a specific paint color/code was easily recognizable...

Hi, Could I get a picture from the rear of the car?  Do you mean that what's "wrong" is that the paint isn't brought up over the lip?  Or that something is wrong w/ the rear panel as well?

Thanks for the replies!  And yes, IMO it would be nice to have a collection of pictures of cars in all the available colors.  The more "correct" references the better!

I'm pretty sure I've seen that page online before after doing some searching on my own.  But it still didn't convince me I have a Sequoia Green car vs. a Teal Blue.  Looking at a 1/2" by 2" sample is not the same as seeing it on something bigger.  Even in the '68 brochure.  It may be obvious to some.  I had trouble...  I did see a car painted the same color as mine for sale and one on here today after a search.  Mine is definitely Sequoia Green.  The answer lied in seeing the color on an actual car...

ever get an answer?  i wrote Lendendary Interiors and they said F-body seats were the same across lines (frames and springs).  '67-8 were different from '69s, though...  i plan on attempting covering '67 firebird seats w/ headrests w/ '68 deluxe foam and covers.  I imagine I will have to buy the '69 headrest covers and see what happens, even though i know they are different sizes.  the cure may be additional material.  but i won't be doing this any time soon...

Wow!  I hope my car looks like that when I'm done!  Well, except for the tires and vinyl top...  I guess I really know what color my car is (no cowl tag).  The (good parts of the) paint is the same colors as yours.  '68 SS Sequoia Green w/ White Bumble Bee stripe...  Nice!

Great thread, BTW.

Chris B. ! lol

I would like to thank everyone who chimed in, that's what makes it great! ;D

In the '68 Assembly Instruction Manual, it shows the stripes bottoming out at the fender extension.  The stripe does continue to curve around under the light opening/front of the fender to the seam between the lower valance and fender.  Pretty old thread.  Probably too late to answer...

General Discussion / Paint "Swatches" for Available Colors

Hi,

I'd like to suggest a thread or possible CRG Research topic.  The suggestion is to post an actual color sample of the color codes.

There are small ones in the brochures.  But I am getting some conflicting input from different sources as to what is the actual color of my car.  My real problem is that my cowl tag is missing.  It was missing when I bought the car in '83.  The color seems original.  It is very similar to '68 Teal Blue, "L".  I saw a couple cars being sold painted the same color as mine.  I asked what color it was and they said Sequoia Green, "V"...

Besides solving my problem, I think it would be pretty great to have this data on a site that is all about what the cars really were like from the factory.  Maybe someone from a paint shop could donate some samples they paint up from the database?  Oh, and I know that the colors will be different on everyones computer, for the most part.  But I believe one could still be able to tell if their color is correct, next to correct, or not so correct.

Anyway, just an idea...

Regards,
Chris

Bought my '68 SS in '83 for 4k.  Came with a '66 427/425.  Been working on it ever since, off and on...

Passed up on a '69 Z28 RS hugger orange w/ white stipes for 4900.  Stupid now.  But back then, I was in high school looking for a hot rod.  Makes it worse seeing the exact car, all original, unrestored, at Steve's Camaro Parts...  Then again, I would have probably swapped stuff out as I beat the heck out of it racing around the streets!  If I knew then...
