My results were: purchased 11/21/67 at dealer code 258 in zone 31 at Hood Motor Co. Inc. in Fort Walton, FL.  The NCRS website has an address of Shell and Main Street.  They say the Preston Hood Chevrolet is the same business and is still in business.  I contacted them via their website.  They said that they don't have any old records...  BUMMER!

Anyway, I don't have a trim tag.  It wasn't there when I bought the car in '83.  My calculations were that it is an 11C car.  Seems about right...

People have said they had problems with the socket grounding on the mounting bracket on the under dash lights.  They either worked their way out/loose or there was an incorrect fit.

The way the wire runs through the one in your pic is not correct.  Someone did some "repair".

Actually that is the way that wire is supposed to attach to the retaining clip. The tape was just used as an extra way of securing the wire to the clip. I think he has the correct clip, just needs to add the correct tape to each end.....................RatPack.......................

That doesn't seem right to me.  One can already see all the damage to the wire.  I personally wouldn't do that.  Plus, that would mean that every time one has to replace that clip (or any like it), they would have to remove the connector and put it back on.  Even when first building the harness at the supplier.  Not that it should need to be replaced often at all.  It would also be a different procedure compared to the rest of the clips in the harness that are added while wrapping it.?.?

Honestly, I have no expertise on how GM did it in the 60s.  It just seems weird to me to have one clip added using one method and the rest a different way...  Plus, the chafing...  I'll leave it up to the experts.

Right.  My original thought was that the clip looks like the ones that are wrapped in the harnesses.  Though, most of the ones I've seen have either a clip or "lug" on them for mounting.  But I have a V8 car with gauges...  The way the wire runs through the one in your pic is not correct.  Someone did some "repair".  As stated, it would originally have had the wire taped to it or something similar, IMHO.

My 11C 68 NOR M21 has 3 clips.  Two originals were still in the car: tunnel/rear and pass. side lower firewall (smashed!).

Yah, I'm not really THAT interested in originality, but the last one I had slipped like mad!  Yes, those were chrome pulleys...  I just had heard that the Quantas were good quality, were the correct size/width, and the construction allowed them to bend correctly.  All of which seemed to mean no slip or throwing...  With 10% off, it's an "OK" deal.

Hi,

I am dressing my '66 427/425 up as an L78 in my '68 SS.  I was wondering what the correct part number were for the belts.  I have the L78 pulley set up on it (3906656, 3869978, 1970831, and 3873847).  Are 3893254 and 3863114 correct?  Other part numbers are listed on the Quanta webstie...  Though, one can search and find all these other numbers (not necessarily listed as 68 Camaro parts).  BTW, they are having a sale right now on belts...

I was also thinking of adding a captured belt.  I saw a thread about it and it lists 3837810 with 2 possible lengths.  It seems like the shorter one is the way to go.?.?

Hi. I have a 1968 coupe with deluxe interior and reveal moldings.  I am going to replace my quarter window fuzzies/felts.

Over the years, I have had car parts on my xmas list.  Plus, have picked up stuff along the way on my own.  So, I do have a full set of felts from...the late 90s???  But they don't match my originals very well.

I checked most of the vendors.  I see that they offer "original style" sets.  Though, it still looks as though the inner quarter felts are not correct.  The outers in my current kit aren't exactly right, either.  But the current offerings state "orginal style bead" on the outers.  My originals do have a sort of black bead vs. the new ones I have that are flat/beveled edge treatment.  The thing is, there is no mention of the inner quarter felts' shape in these new "orginal style" kits.  Are they a chrome bead like my originals?  Or a more flat chrome piece like the door panels (which is what is in my current repro kit)?

Here are my fronts.  The outers are the same as the quarter outers, as far as I can tell.  The inners are like my replacements with the flat chrome piece.


Here are my quarter window outers.  Notice, if you can, that there is a bead on the originals on the right vs. a bevel, then rounded over pinch on the repros on the left.



One can kind of see the bevel on the repro in these pictures.  It bends away from the camera.  The originals actually come towards the camera first.  Then, they are a rounded over bead.  Also notice the way the end is cut on the original vs. repro.  The original is at an angle.  The repro is a 90 degree cut.



Here are the inner quarter felts.  This is where the biggest difference occurs.  The repros on top have a flat chrome piece like the doors.  The originals are a chrome bead (bottom).


First, are my "originals" correct?  My car is pretty original in most areas.  But not always...  If they are, does anyone sell a kit or at least the inner felts that are like the originals?  The vendor descriptions are all over the place...

My 68 isn't "numbers", either...  And no trim tag!  But mostly original body, etc.  Drive train, not so much.  Then again, if I replace stuff, I want it to be as close to original style as possible...  Currently, I'm trying to figure out window felts.  The latest of many research items.
