A couple notes regarding your post 16, which I'm finding quite interesting, btw. :D

Generally, no ME coded small block (327) got a partial VIN stamp in 67. Federal requirements began in 68.

Hand painted pinstripes were included on all 67 Z21 and Z22 equipped Camaros.

PTB stamps could probably be seen with the fenders removed.

Would really like to see the trunk! :)

I'm guessing the entire bottom side was undercoated, including the gas tank straps (prior to the tank being replaced).

Thanks Doc. Noticed the N34 steering wheel as well. N30 in the shippers report. Interesting car to say the least.  :) Keep the photos coming please....

The floor mats are screwed in, as they were an experimental piece for possible future Corvette use.  This is the original shipper’s report.

Who screwed the floor mats in?  ??? B37 in the shippers report is the standard floor mat used in all First Gen's.

4 1/4" bs, 5 x 4 3/4 bolt pattern.

The common FW code GM rally wheel is an exact match, dimensionally, as mentioned above.

Pics and a measurement or 2 would be nice... :)

Way back when, I had mine rechromed as a comparable repop didn't exist ....as far as I knew.  ???

Maintenance / Re: 1968 lighting/engine harness

I have a 68 and it looks like it has 69 harness in it.
1 temp wire is on light harness not engine harness DG
2Blower motor wire is orange not purple
Could late 68s have 69 harnesses in them?

That's correct for all 68's, regardless of the build date. Purple goes to the starter solenoid.

Not entirely true. :)  ZL2 could be ordered with any SS (not just pacecars) or Z28.

Thanks!.

The motor is VIII4MV so they are about a month apart.

Ed, that brings up another question. Was it both the VIN and the engine ID numbers stamped on the engine at the same time? Or was it the engine ID at one time and  the VIN when it was mated to the car?

Engine code was stamped at Flint or Tonawanda when the engine was built (assembly code). Partial VIN was stamped at Norwood or Van Nuys when the car was assembled, both on the engine and trans.
