Originality / Re: Jack Retaining Strap(s) Endura Bumper

UPC 10 A-2 in the AIM shows the two straps. I personally don't think that would change just for the Endura bumper because the jack is the same in all aspects with exception to the hook.

Your list is incomplete. The first Camaro that I owned in high school was an 1984 Z/28, after college I had a 96 V6 convertable

Mickey I think that's a great Idea. need all the Camaros we can get. I owned a couple of those Z/28 IROC Camaros. Had a coupe and a vert. Loved both of them. So did somebody else. One got stole out of my brother's driveway while we were gone to eat supper and the other got stole at a concert.

Glad you caught it instead of taking off and ruining a motor.

The guy that has always done my radiator work would put a good coat of paint on everything and the fins basically only got over spray from that. I never saw him directly painting the fins. That engine I mentioned had  about 6 miles on it when they called for me to come get it off the highway.  The ole boy was sick.

If the coolant is not circulating it could be the water pump. Does pressure build up on the hoses when it's running with the cap on the radiator? I mean do the hose feel tight or are they easy to mash on?

Gary I'll let someone with experience chime in on the paint and primer but I wanted to relay something I learned when I was young. Don't put the paint too heavy on the cooling fins. It don't take much to restrict the heat exchange and not a whole lot more to stop it completely up. I had a friend that painted one with Chassis Black using a paint gun and it ruined a brand new motor. The paint was so thick no air was getting thru. Ran it hot cracked both heads. I'm not running your business just wanted to tell you what I have seen.

I'm not being a Know-it -All  but did you put the thermostat in up-side down? In a hurry to get it put together I have seen strange things happen.

-- could also be stripe delete on an SS. I'm not seeing the Z/28 proof. I could be missing something, wouldn't be the first time.

I'm missing the same thing you are. What is there to make this a Z/28? No engine, transmission, and a BU axle that could be from anything. The 4 leaf spring could have come from a junk yard and that's what he's using for proof? Nope that dog won't hunt !!

Well that picture is a flywheel, and it is not specific to the 302.  Had lots of applications.

I think he's pointing out the impression on the flywheel that was left by the crankshaft. The notch is exclusive to the 302 if I'm not mistaken. You can see a picture for reference HERE that John posted in another thread.

I painted anywhere from 3 to 6 cars a week without any kind of respirator and I'm here to tell you I wish I had spent that money and bought one. That's not including the countless hours I worked in the shop with the Bondo dust and primer flying everywhere. I'm paying for it now.

Your first set of shims are body shims. The hole in top was to keep them on a wire so they don't separate when you are putting them in a blind spot or hard to get to place. I'd find an old front end shop stuffed off in a corner somewhere and get shims from them.

I filled the block through the thermostat opening and put in a new thermostat since I was there. When I start the vehicle and it gets to operating temp, the engine starts to overheat and the radiator is cold. The radiator was gone through prior to restoring the car and along with the water pump has few miles on it. The thermostat is new? Could it be trapped air in the system? If so, what's the best way to bleed it?

Can you see the water circulating in the radiator? I have always just started it up with cap off. When the thermostat opens the water level will drop. When you add coolant that will force any air out of the system as it continues to circulate and fill the voids with nothing but head pressure from the radiator.

I believe that's what they are talking about Danny. That's the only one that goes in the back of the rocker.
