Decoding/Numbers / Re: Muncie ID ?
« on: April 27, 2013, 02:05:49 AM »
I have no idea if this has anything to do with this issue but it come to mind when I read the other thread and found the R I scratched into the mold.  Years ago I was a molder and when we got a new molder most times, if nobody knew him, they would make him mark all his casting for a while to help keep a check for quality control. I've saw initials, letters, and numbers added to molds and patterns. They could go thru scrap castings and know who put the mold up. If the new guy had a bunch in the scrap pile he had to be moved or fired. I know this sounds weird but you have to remember when this took place also. That was about the only way to keep up with who did what and after a time the identification marks would be removed.

I do know the Orange car has a ton of repop parts on it. Makes ya think and check real close for re-stamps.  Oh BTW where's the smog tubes and pump?

Restoration / Re: Grill questions
« on: April 23, 2013, 08:17:54 PM »
The section of the grill outside the egg crate was painted the car color. It was painted with the same paint as the car. I took my chrome off to get a good paint line and snapped it back on. I left the egg crate part just black plastic with no paint but if you are using a reproduction grill you might want to paint it. They do make a special plastic paint in a spray bomb. I've never had one and don't know how they are made.

Lectric Limited is supposed to be a dead ringer for a reproduction cable. Might check with them.             http://www.lectriclimited.com/

Clem I've followed this thread all the way thru. You just struck a nerve. It sounds like you have a problem with somebody other than this site or the CRG. I have never been ask for one damn dime and although I have tried to donate to help keep this site up and running I've always been turned down. Seems you are preaching to the choir my friend. You brought this argument to the wrong place. I couldn't care less if your damn car was Turkey Turd Tan. Get a grip and a life. Go argue with the one you have a beef with. NOT the people that are here to share and learn about one of the greatest muscle cars ever built.  If you have nothing constructive to add get your toys and go home.

Sincerely,
Daniel Wysner

P.S. Respect is earned and never bought. You don't have enough money to have my respect after this little debacle. Reputations are a dime a dozen and can be lost a hell of a lot faster than earned. Be careful of who you step on when your going up cause you might meet them on YOUR way DOWN.

Hey Tom do me a favor and tell me how this car was put together. You said we restore our cars incorrectly. What do I need to do to make it right. I'm losing sleep and it has me on the verge of a breakdown. I know it's only a few pictures but maybe you can tell since your up on all the details from Norwood.

Yes the little valley that the squirters lay in has a bit of dum-dum in it to seal around the squirters.

I'm not trying to be a smart a$$ but can you tell me what purpose a solid set up serves?  What good does it do?

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 1969 Z/28 YH Wheels
« on: April 10, 2013, 12:26:22 PM »
Would it be acceptable for one wheel to be dated 5/4 which is the date on my spare that came with the car and the other four to be dated 4/21 as these wheels are? Or should all the wheels be dated the same day?

Yes that would be acceptable according to what everyone else has posted for dates in the past. If I remember correctly there are only a couple cars that I heard of that had all 5 wheels match.

No Sir and I've drove everywhere. I rebuilt the front end and used all the original springs A-arms and such.

I'm agree with you on time to change. I'd hate to tear a fender off . I'm running 235/60/14 in the Goodrich. I wanted just a little lower profile. I think they look good.  225 is just a little bit skinny for a mean machine like we got. 8)

Originality / Re: 1969 Control Arm Alignment Shims
« on: April 05, 2013, 06:15:00 PM »
I didn't mean these were factory body shims. These are aftermarket body shims is what I meant or at least that's what I used in the shop for years. No the original shims were not zinc. Sorry for the confusion but he did say he bought them at a parts house so I took it for granted he understood they sold him body shims instead of front end alignment shims. Maybe these are alignment shims that they use now. I've been out of the business 20 years.
