I'd want to see a picture of the engine pad stamp and make it big enough you can see details not just the stamp. The underside looks like it's had a lot of spray bomb restoration work. Don't take me wrong but the underside looks rough and if it's supposed to be restored and they left the bottom like that then I would question the quality of work on the rest of the car.

i dont think the underside has been sprayed
, ill have to ask tom.  i was told the car has only been repainted one time and has never been taken off the frame.  only some frame on stuff.  he did say the interior was original

The gas tank and springs have definitely been painted along with other parts of the rear end. The rear end housing sure is shiny and a different color black than the rest of the black for some reason if it hasn't been painted.Looking at the lower section of the tail panel it looks like it's been hit and they didn't finish their bondo work under the gas fill hole. Also looks like the tank has a dent right in that same place.

Hey Daniel. I sent you a PM. I don't have a problem paying you for it. Is it like what's in reply #3? I got to give you something if it is.

Gary I don't know how I missed it but I thought you needed a dated starter is the reason I haven't been reading real close. I've got a nose if that's all you need.  I'll give it to you if you'll pay the postage. I'll send you a PM.

Lets get into PMs and don't tie up the MB.

That's all I could think of DavidS. But the way he expressed it as saying he would never use it what has me baffled. My car is matching numbers car and probably a show winner in some circles but I chose stainless for longevity because sitting brake fluid creates or attracts moisture. My car sits more than it's driven so........ you do the math.

I wouldn't do stainless lines ever. What problem are you trying to fix with the stainless?

Hey KurtS could you elaborate a little on why you wouldn't ever use stainless? I used it for fuel and brake lines and they were a good fit and look great. A few on this site recommended stainless because I ask before I bought all this stuff. IIRC I think JohnZ actually recommended stainless but don't take that to the bank. IIRC he also recommended InLine Tube. I'm just confused and it has been a couple years since all this took place.

I've never replaced rockers on a stock engine rebuild unless there were signs of wear or galling where the oiling had been inadequate.

This transmission is listed and is stamped with 40887 but no prefix. Could be a possible '68 with build date of P 8 H 28 but it also has ct8 stamped on it. Could be a over the counter transmission in '68?

Thanks Phillip. These chairs look good but the seat is only 18 inches from the ground and that's what I have now. I  need a 30 inch seat. I've since found a couple on Amazon. They are called director's chairs but they were plain Jane. The one that I saw was decked out with padded seats and arm rest with a cup holder and car pictures with silhouettes. Maybe I'll catch him at another cruise-in. Thanks for all the help. I'm going over and check out Jegs. I've saw these blessed things somewhere but can't remember where.

General Discussion / Fold Up Chairs For The Trunk For Cruise-Ins
« on: May 02, 2013, 11:02:04 PM »
Guys I have a fold up chair for the trunk. It sits low and getting hard for me to get up. I saw a guy that had one that sat up high like a director's chair or bar stool but it folded up. He told me where he got it but I forgot. I think he said it was one of those places that sell detailing items. I can't find anything. Does anybody know where I might find a tall chair so when I get up I'm almost standing?  Thanks for any help.

Has anybody ever saw an O with a line thru it? I've got a set in a box in my shop. I replaced them with Crane's cause they are in a Crane box. I can't remember what they were for though.

Maintenance / Re: 69 std left inner fender
« on: May 01, 2013, 01:08:16 PM »
You can do it but it would be a fight all the way. It's easier to go ahead and pull the fender and inner fender together and change the inner fender on the ground. Takes about the same amount of time but much much easier
