I have good molding that is original to my '69SS.  I would like to keep it but as you probably know it is "white" dull. I have tried several polishes and wax and cream and I am just wasting my time and money. Can anyone tell me where to send it to get it polished out  like new?  I am about to do a  face lift and spruce it up a little and I just can't get it to shine like it's supposed too.

Thanks

Daniel

Thanks for all the replys but I am still having a problem figuring out what some of it means. I mean some of the stuff is confusing. If you have this certain number it might be Z87 or something and if you have this number you have Z24 or something else. Then you get into subsections of this section and this certain number belongs to this other subsection  and around and around I go. But anyway I am still just as lost.
But THANKS
Daniel

Mild Modifications / Re: MOTOR MOUNT STRAPS
« on: December 02, 2009, 07:03:47 PM »
I don't know if this makes sense but I broke the bolts that held it to the manifold.  I ended up going with solid steel mounts.  A little vibration at idle but it held that puppy down. I had to do something drastic cause I almost went under a semi-truck with a stuck throttle and it almost caused my heart to stop.  LOL

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Help with build date?
« on: November 26, 2009, 02:35:47 PM »
Just a little information.  I know it won't help you but I have an  07 A  build date  like you and my VIN is  667804. According to your VIN 607452  they had to build  60,352 cars in July.  I am not saying it's impossible but to me thats a lot of cars.  Hope you have luck with your search.

I have a '69 SS with X 55 cowl plate.  I figured out some of it but what does  L 48  stand for.   Also I can't figure out what the numbers are on the little steel plate that was in the dash with the owners manual.  Everything is printed backwards and I can't make hide nor hair of it. Can I post it and get some help with that?  I have it in hand so I can copy it any time.

  Thanks

Maintenance / Re: Blower Fan to Heater Core...
« on: November 25, 2009, 01:17:10 PM »
You might have a bad switch.  Been a long time since I changed one but I think they have a resistor on them for high settings and they burn out or get wet and blow. Anyway that blower motor don't know the diiference if it's running on 4 speed switch  or 10 speed.

Maintenance / Re: at high revs it stalls and dies out please help.

Did it ever run right after you got it put together?  If it did you might have a bowl full of trash and the float is stuck.  Something might have got in the needle and seat  allowing enough fuel to idle.  You might have trash in the accelerator pump blocking fuel flow.  Last but not least you have a major vacuum leak.  Did the gasket cover all the ports on the intake?  I have seen  gaskets that are for several applications and sometime I didn't check the coverage on intake til something like this happened.

Restoration / Re: Matching Numbers '69 SS restore HELP

Thanks  Big Al. I'll give it a try when time comes.  Any other tips on  do's or don'ts  would be a Great Help. I would like to put it back as close to "showroom" new as possible.

Restoration / Matching Numbers '69 SS restore HELP
« on: November 24, 2009, 09:25:25 PM »
I am a newbie and have read some great stuff on this site and I need some HELP.  I am about to start work on a '69 SS with matching numbers. Would it be best to use all the original parts that are useable or is it OK to use repo to make it look newer?   The dash pad is not cracked but is slighty warped. Does anybody know how to get the warp out or should I replace it?  As of now the only thing that I see to replace is carpet, door panels, and that piece of card board behind the back seat.  That piece has a single speaker in it.  Is that factory or did someone just put one speaker in.  Would anybody recommend  Rick's or Yearone for parts?
ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated
