Mild Modifications / Advice/opinion on 14 X 6" Rally wheels
« on: January 31, 2010, 06:39:21 PM »
I need some help, advice/ opinions on new wheels all way around.  Has anybody used the 6" Rally wheels on all 4 corners?

Does the offset keep the tire inside the wheel well?   Do they hit the disc brake caliper with the 4" offset?

Do they scrub the wheel well in hard turns since the tire is wider?

Who has the best wheel?  Has anybody used the name brand "Wheel Vintiques" that Rick's sell?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated

Restoration / Advice on interior Restoration
« on: January 28, 2010, 02:36:15 PM »
Part of my interior is great. Some needs replacing. My question is; Do I replace only the bad pieces or replace all of it.  Some armchair advice says replace all of it because the new pieces will not match in color from fading of the older parts. Some say to keep all that I can use from original parts. I am not a Rockerfeller but money is no object on this car.  I am doing this one time and one time only because my race is about run.

Restoration / Stecils and stripes for '69 SS
« on: January 07, 2010, 01:41:32 PM »
I would like to know who y'all would recommend for stencils for '69 SS hockey stripes.  Everbody and their brother sells them and I don't want to take a shot in the dark on these.

    Thanks

I have good molding that is original to my '69SS.  I would like to keep it but as you probably know it is "white" dull. I have tried several polishes and wax and cream and I am just wasting my time and money. Can anyone tell me where to send it to get it polished out  like new?  I am about to do a  face lift and spruce it up a little and I just can't get it to shine like it's supposed too.

Thanks

I have a '69 SS with X 55 cowl plate.  I figured out some of it but what does  L 48  stand for.   Also I can't figure out what the numbers are on the little steel plate that was in the dash with the owners manual.  Everything is printed backwards and I can't make hide nor hair of it. Can I post it and get some help with that?  I have it in hand so I can copy it any time.

  Thanks

Restoration / Matching Numbers '69 SS restore HELP
« on: November 24, 2009, 09:25:25 PM »
I am a newbie and have read some great stuff on this site and I need some HELP.  I am about to start work on a '69 SS with matching numbers. Would it be best to use all the original parts that are useable or is it OK to use repo to make it look newer?   The dash pad is not cracked but is slighty warped. Does anybody know how to get the warp out or should I replace it?  As of now the only thing that I see to replace is carpet, door panels, and that piece of card board behind the back seat.  That piece has a single speaker in it.  Is that factory or did someone just put one speaker in.  Would anybody recommend  Rick's or Yearone for parts?
ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated
