106  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: where can I send my water pump to get rebuilt on: December 16, 2012, 08:55:57 AM
Paul is definitely right there. Never support pump or press without supporting close to bearing or center.
Never support pump where the pressure is on pump outlets.
107  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Maintenance / Re: Rear main seal leak on: December 16, 2012, 08:41:19 AM
No it wasn't the installation. I though maybe after first time.
But after the attention to detail 2nd time I ruled that out.
The material the 2912 is made of is a better quality and the lip is stiffer.
I also don't like band aids in situations as this especially.
If a low vac sb can run without special attention  with  no leak then this L48
should. GM was able to do. It boils down in my opinion again to quality of materials.

As johnZ stated, if no grove 2912 is a good choice. I installed this one after trying 2 other felpro seals before. It's the material because seal is made identical. I would have gladly paid $16 more first time around.

If you have a good press and have any experience using it, rebuild it yourself.
If the housing is in good shape and you can find the right kit it's not that difficult.
The most important thing is to get all your "baseline" measurements pulley hub and
impeller so alignment is correct.
112  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Hood hinges on: December 13, 2012, 08:28:02 PM
Thanks I will look into those options. I think I have located a good OEM set off a 66 nova .
If these are in good shape problem solved for now. Still think I will have issue with springs though.
Will most likely order new OEM SS set.
113  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Hood hinges on: December 12, 2012, 11:42:48 PM
Steve,
I think a attempt of a used or new OEM to match the other
Would give me a jump start on adjusting. Might make attempt
to tighten up old first. Anybody have any suggestions on repairing old?
114  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Hood hinges on: December 12, 2012, 09:37:56 PM
Can just one hinge be replaced without creating alignment problems, or should they be both be replaced.
Have a SS and right hinge is loose enough that the stop misses to the inside. WD the hinges and now the hood won't even begin to stay up.

120  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / RS Grille on: June 20, 2012, 10:42:57 PM
Any comments on Replacement RS Grilles? Ordered a Kit that contained a imported 69 RS Grille.
I know the OEM is best but is the import that different? Heartbeat City GNL-1061 vs. ?
