Originality / Re: 67 low fuel light?
« on: April 07, 2010, 06:45:29 PM »
After reading this thread, is my understanding correct that the low fuel warning module is not supposed to have a fues or bulb in it because it's the fuel light on the dash that comes on? If it does need a fues/bulb, I haven't seen any at the various Camaro part houses to purchase???

Originality / Re: '69 small block - correct alternator belt

Thanks for the help John. There's a repop at Heartbeat City with that number on it...may do the job. If not, I'll try the Flextra.

Originality / '69 small block - correct alternator belt
« on: February 25, 2010, 07:02:35 PM »
For my '69 SS350 with AIR pump, water pump, crank and alternator, my research shows one belt around all four pulleys. If this is correct, does anyone have the part # for the alternator belt? I have seen #3883248 but it doesn't specify if it is for AIR or not.
Thanks for any help.

Restoration / Rear end sits too high
« on: January 10, 2010, 05:23:08 AM »
I just put the sub frame and rear end/leaf springs back on my '69 SS350 after restoration. The back end sits high: about 15" from the ground to the bottom of the rocker panel, and 31" from the ground to the cnter of the rear whell well. While nothing else has been reassembled, I can't see what will bring the back end down. The multi leaf springs are original and haven't been modified and the car sat at a normal level prior to disassembly. Any ideas?

Rick,

Richard has posted pix and some good data. If you locate a source for 2 piece panels let me know and I'll do the same. So far, all the repops I've found are one piece.

My 1969 SS350 with a 01C build date has the two piece kick panels (the grill is a separate piece). My understanding is that they did go to a one piece later in the year. My kick panels are out and being replaced (previous owner cut out a hole for speakers). I will see if I can dig them out and take a picture for you.

Test Drive / Re: Quoting another post

Thanks guys. It must be a setting I need to change. When I hit "Quote" it copies the text but the word "quote" shows up next to it in parentheses. Or if I highlight in purple, the word "purple" shows up in paretheses next to the quote. I will figure it out, thanks again.

Restoration / Re: Period correct engine value?
« on: December 08, 2009, 06:25:35 PM »
Jerry,

For judging/value and authenticity, if one has a dated correct original engine, what is the acceptable window for the date? Can it be after the build of the car?

Thanks, Steve

Kurt,

I'm trying to figure out how one can copy a portion of another's post and paste in their reply (it shows up in a purple box). Any help is appreciated.

69 Camaro SS350, 4sp. M20, fold down rear seat. Purchased in 2000 for $4500 from the second owner who had it since 1978. Currently doing a frame off restoration.

I agree that you should go for the correct block. I'm restoring a '69 SS350 and I'm searching for an L48 block as well. I will enjoy the car much more knowing it is as close to original as possible when I'm finished with it.

Originality / Re: Cooling fan & Harmonic Balancer
« on: December 03, 2009, 05:19:55 AM »
I just found in Jerry's book that the balancer is 8" and 1.340 inches thick for the SS350 while the Z is 1.750 inches thick...I don't know why I didn't look there first.

1969 SS350:
For the four blade fan, what is the measurement? I read the report but don't see that info. Additionally, they are difficult to find...has anyone seen them for sale anywhere?

Secondly, is 7" the correct harmonic balancer for my car?

Thanks!
