I posted these part numbers for the "B28" vacuum advance unit before, but I can't locate the post; ALL vacuum advance units are manufactured exclusively by Standard Motor Products, who sells them to branding wholesalers who re-box them with their own part numbers (but ALL are stamped by SMP with "B"-codes, which define their characteristics).

"B28" Vacuum Advance Units (start at 4" Hg., finish at 8" Hg.):

John I have searched and searched for those list of numbers you have compiled but they all lead to dead ends -Discontinued probably very few being sold these days so...see my replies listed in thread above,  the Carquest was all I could fine and was - get them while you can! I now have 2 B28 spares

These are the blades you can get from NAPA for about $9. They have the refills for about $5 a pair which I haven't got before. I may pick up a set to see what they look like. These blades certainly aren't assembly line correct but look and work great on my drivers.

I agree its a GM issue that age does not help- voltage drop to the headlights - too much resistance

Old thread I know, I have looked and looked for the part numbers listed above and I have had 0 luck  Cry
i did find a Wells #  57-7537 that CarQuest was able to order for about 12$ ea I bought one and it spec'd out with my vacuum guage started moving at 3-4" and stopped by 8" - what are we going to do when these are no longer available? IMO this is a important part for tuning Z's

It's possible that you may ruin the manifold trying to restore it. Try bead/media blasting it. If it doesn't work you will have to find another manifold to send to Jerry if you want to go back to original.
I agree try the beadblast first, if not I would source another manifold not having a non born with intake wouldnt kill you to me its more about block/heads ect plus date code cant be easily seen

John I agree but theres no telling how many repop bumpers have been made, really a moot point who would ever use a bumper jack on these bumpers? when I was 18 I tried mine not knowing any better and well all I can say is it wasnt pretty, never again

OK if they were painted what paint will give the closest finish to original? the W/P pulley I have is pretty well just gloss now so I would like to install it once

Good pics John - thanks I know what to look for now, the other thing is the accel. pump cover half or more of the 4053's I see have regular phillips screws and not the clutch head type. is it confirmed all had clutch head originally?

FWIW - Most Later issue repo & service date 4053 carbs also have the wrong accelerator pump body & retainer screws and accellorator pump adjuster bolt/spring setup. Original production ine installed 4053 housings use clutch screws and the adjuster bolt never used a nyloc nut , they had a screw the other way with a t nut setup against the pump housing arm. Also the base idle adjustment screw was a different design.

Hello I have been looking/searching here and Camaro.net and really havent seen what i was looking for. I looked at Jerrys book and its an early one, whats the correct finish on the pulleys is it 60% gloss paint? or Phosphate? if paint, what have Y'all been using? I'm about to put mine together and am trying to do this right the first time- just really seeing if any new info had came up
