Originality / Re: D80 included???
« on: August 31, 2011, 12:32:50 PM »
I was told years ago that if you bumped a curb with the spoiler that the support rods would do a number on the sheetmetal- bend fender? seemed to make sense to me so I had never installed the rods fearing this. had thought about using nylon bolts that would break away saving the sheet metal- any thoughts on this? I will be driving my car and I'm carefull but you know "stuff" happens

Restoration / Re: 12 Bolt Axle GM issue Pinion Yoke
« on: August 26, 2011, 12:47:39 PM »
10 and 12 are different but 12 bolt car and truck are the same. most fit smaller 1310 u-joints and use outer clips. there are some for the 1350 joint but seem hard to find some list as a 70 chevelle 12 bolt BB yoke. Aftermarket make some h/d yokes if you looking for original look for truck 12 bolt yokes.

Mild Modifications / Re: Nova Fold Down Rear Seat Fit Camaro?
« on: August 26, 2011, 12:35:47 PM »
the nova hatchback does not have the rear package tray.  my be an issue may not since they bodies are similar it may be able to work - i think the biggest issue you will have is height where it meets the package tray

General Discussion / Re: Engine value to Z28 owner
« on: July 22, 2011, 09:40:41 PM »
I know this is an old thread but with distributors and alternators bringing 1000-1800$ and thats for a dated component-no serial numbers then I would think that a born with block would be the "Icing on the cake" to get the only block the cars was born with would be worth 4-5k, course if the owner of my block would offer that I'd probably choke on it.

General Discussion / Re: My 69 not that much fun anymore

the thought of having a perfectly restored nut and bolt car is to me just a thought. I want a driver- a nice one but not perfect - chips/dings be damned! I'm not going to live forever, My son can do with it what he wants when I'm gone

Mild Modifications / Re: Power Steering Gear Box
« on: June 09, 2011, 12:58:03 PM »
The manual steering arms will work, but are probably not the ones you want for the faster steering ratio.
you can make it too fast, I did the Iroc swap on my 69 Nova with the longer pitman arm but not the short steering arms - you dont want the car twichy or too fast ratio do the gearbox swap then the arms later if you need more

General Discussion / Re: Future First Gen Values
« on: December 30, 2010, 01:44:23 PM »
My son has been around my cars all his life and he's hooked too. He's anxiously awaiting for me to pass my cars on-which is a good thing maybe he will get them running :) I think the demand for the muscle cars will be around as long as the baby boomers are. Although fewer and fewer will know how to fix them. when I started dating my wife in 79 I told her I had a Z28 and she was expecting the car Spicoli totaled in Fast times at Ridgemont, she looked at my 69 and well, you how the nose turned. She has come around. Its all about the history - Kinda a shame that there is no Z now but what they are planning sounds good!

Restoration / Re: restamped distributor
« on: August 04, 2010, 05:40:45 PM »

I can't afford buying all original nos parts, dist., alt. starter, etc., but I can afford a restamped part. I would never pass any restamped part as original.
I'm in the same boat I'd like to put mine back original as possible but the date code thing makes mine hard- late 69 build -I just dont see much available for them. all the parts you list above are rediculous on Fleabay sorry I cant see 1k plus for a points distributor for original #s if thats the only difference is what its stamped on it
