Originality / Re: Head light washers

Rich,

The fastener statement is exactly the point. Every RS or RS/SS Camaro automatically came with headlight washers, a mandatory inclusion: if you're restoring a car to include bolt head markings and brush strokes in the body sealer, and leave the washer system out or only partially there, then it's affecting your restoration quality. It's a component, like proper bleeder equipped master cylinders and 4053 Holleys.

The other side of it - '69 Corvettes used the same valve for their headlight washers (remember them !), as did Caprice hideaway headlight equipped cars. CE1 optional open headlight cars are very rare to my estimation - if you're documented, it's a plus -

I'll post some pics this weekend - good part about these units, you can duplicate what you need fairly inexpensively nowadays, if you research it.

Steve

I know but IMO so little info is ever talked about this system when people restore the cars having owned 2 RS/Zs and a pace car I never had a working system and never seen much on anyone detailing and restoring this nuance system - Hey where's Edgemont village when you need him? :)

There were 116 '69s built with CE1. There were 37,773 RS built with them.

No one much cares about head light washers.

I respectfully disagree. I may be one of the 37,773 RS owners factory equipped with the CE1, but I took some effort to restore mine and make sure it is correct. Came pretty close to reproducing the valve, even to contacting GM for the licensing routine and securing the prints for the valve, only to have someone beat me to it when I couldn't afford the mold charges. (about $20K then, in the early-mid 90's). If a documented CE1 non-RS car shows up, it's still a rarity no matter what option you prefer. I vote for cool -

Regards,
Steve
Steve I couldn't agree more, since we're all crazy about what the bolt head markings are on any fastener why isn't the washers being done up right??
lets post up some pictures for the "no ones" who want to detail their cars right (like me)

Originality / Re: 1969 Front Spoiler to Lower Valance Bolts
« on: October 17, 2019, 01:27:55 PM »
I used the first set you posted above Danzo on my white 69Z, with a reproduction front spoiler. The kit works fine, but I thought some of the holes on the spoiler were not spot on. I seemed a couple so everything would fit nice.
Looked good for about 4 months, when I hit my first high curb in a parking lot...lol
I got it tweaked back where it is suppose to go, and have grazed a few more things since, (steep drive ways). Good thing the reproduction spoilers are only $20. :)

I've been hesitant to install rods with my spoiler I was told by a  guy way back if you found that curb while paring at 7-11 that the rods would bend lower fender - cant confirm this but what have you guys seen? I thought about getting nylon bolts so if impacted they would shear before doing any harm?

Ah, all the technical process questions!

1. Take chipped 99cent supermarket ceramic mug.
2. Add 2 heaped teaspoons of Nescafé Blend 43 granules to 1/2 cup boiling Aussie rainwater.
3. Dozen stirs counter-clockwise using slightly tarnished teaspoon.
4. Leave to cool while doing yard work, then pour into small Zip-Lok bag.
5. Add one $8 repro check valve from John's Classic Cars and seal bag.
6. Check until happy with color and remove.
OR
6a. Wife asks what is that mess in the bag on the counter? and you remember the experiment, remove valve and wish you'd caught it sooner.
Wont we have to stir clockwise above the equator?

I tried link to Johns classic cars and I couldnt fine the valve :(  anyone have the part number?

Restoration / Re: Pinion yolk 10 bolt vs 12 bolt
« on: July 18, 2016, 04:43:12 PM »
should be same U-bolts, for the same u-joint. I know in 69 they went to straps and bolts than 70 there was a larger yoke for 1350 U-Joints on some but not all IIRC
