31  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: tires for 14 x 6 rally wheels on: June 27, 2013, 11:22:25 AM
Are you switching from bias ply to radial, or already radial.  When I went to radial found that the factory front alignment specs didn't work well.  Went to a customized setup to compensate for the radial tires.
32  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Heartbeat City reputation on: June 24, 2013, 11:13:40 AM
I've been pleased with Heartbeat's customer service and shipping, but the quality/accuracy of their parts is no better (or worse) than other venders.  What they call "same as original" many times is not.  I tend to buy most stuff from a nearby Camaro parts house (Steve's Camaros) where I can inspect the parts before purchase.  I understand not everyone has a Camaro parts dealer within 50 miles.
33  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Need cheap insurance on: April 15, 2013, 11:03:14 AM
Many of the collector car insurance company's (i.e. Hagerty) base the premium cost on the automobile replacement value you choose.  Lower the value, lower the premium cost to you.   Might be worth checking out.
34  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: Solid subframe bushings at the core support ??? on: April 13, 2013, 11:17:50 AM
Have you ridden in a Camaro with solid bushings.   Rides like a 50 year old truck.  Great if you'r going to autocross or go pro-touring...not so good on the street.  Have you considered poly bushings?

Don't forget to check out Coker tires.
36  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: '68 taillight bezels won't fit properly. on: March 22, 2013, 11:11:26 AM
My replacement OER bezels also did not fit properly (and were not very good quality).  I returned them and bought CHQ's.  They fit properly, and came with threaded studs.  I did have trouble with water leakage (minimal) around the replacement gaskets, so put a fine bead of caulk around the housings (inside edges where you can't see it).  No more leaks, and great fit.
37  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Mild Modifications / Re: 1969 350 RS header recommendations on: March 12, 2013, 11:24:00 AM
Lot's of good headers available.  Check over at for many posts on this subject.  A common problem with aftermarket headers in Gen 1's with small block. is clearance at the steering box.

How about offering a choice of white or blue shirts?
39  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: 1968 special customized promotional car on: March 07, 2013, 12:37:12 PM
Need trim tag, serial/other stamped numbers to help.
40  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: 68 Camaro 4-speed Saginaw tranny on: February 09, 2013, 01:26:36 PM
if you are going to swap 4 speeds, keep in mind some of the bolt ons may need to change also.  Example: does your current speedo cable connect to the left or right side of the xmsn (may not be correct for 68 if you have a mid 60's Muncie or ?), may need a different back up light switch, etc.
41  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Nickey Cragar center hubs on: December 31, 2012, 04:47:31 PM
Saw some Cragar rims on a Baldwin camaro that had spinners (3 arms) on the center hub.  Also have see photos of some Nickey's with Cragar center hub, while one photo showed a 3 arm spinner.  Any Baldwin or Nickey still around to verify what the "factory" options were?
42  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Nickey Cragar center hubs on: December 30, 2012, 12:32:07 AM
Anyone have a photo of the 1968 Nickey camaro cragar wheel center hub?  Know who sells nos or repros?
43  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: 68 Camaro horns on: December 14, 2012, 01:25:19 PM
As BlackoutSteve indicates, the standard horn placement (non RS, non low note option) is shown on UPC 12, A8.   UPC U3, A1 shows horn Placement for the RS option, and the low note option.  If your Camaro has the basic 2 horn setup use A8.  If horns are still intact with their original mounting brackets, they will only fit one way (because of the mounting tabs) into the headlamp housing and radiator support.
