« on: September 04, 2014, 07:59:28 PM »
oh i cant do it my self...  i have no clue how to weld.

A guy that works for us his brother owns a huge body shop,  about 60 employees,   anyway he restores cars on the side,  so im waiting to see what he has to say on what labor will cost..   From what ive seen i need about $4-5K in body parts...  so unless labor cost $8K it would be cheaper..   those bodies are $14K arnt they?

Restoration / body parts, am i over looking anything.. also...
« on: September 04, 2014, 03:55:10 PM »
So i need a lot of body parts....    Here are a few photos,  let me know if ive missed anything.

Also "belairbobs".com   anyone know what body parts they use,   they have a monster kit,   Listed for $3K   I emailed them and ask about the kit.   He said that the body parts are not AMD, but fit just as good, they are not as thick...  with out the doors and hood, and in the roof skin, roof brace, and inner front fender it would be 2699...    This seems way to cheap.   I looked on AMD and it came out to a lot more,  i want to say it $4K ish...   From everything on here ive read paying the extra for amd stuff is worth it..    here is the link to there kit,   http://www.belairbobs.com/inc/sdetail/236/1457

few quick shots,  and yes the entire front clip,

it was kinda pretty at one time,   this is the "side tank" i think is what you called it attached to the fire wall.   Need both of them :(

Fire wall and dash... shot,

ac thing,

inside dash / fire wall

quick shot of the drivers side floor,   it looked better on the phone than on here lol...  anyway the seam? that the green wire is touching,  it looks like a replacedment floor that they did a lazy job of fixing

crap photo as well,   but inside 1/4 panel,  where the rear window rolls down.  Just looks odd to me.

1/4

Crap pict too,    This is the bottom of where the door bolts up!   both side like that,  once worse than other..

frame and stuff look good for here,

Decoding/Numbers / Re: More number for you guys
« on: September 04, 2014, 02:36:55 PM »
no doubt,   I had a set of those on the corvette,  until a nut took a tour of the inisde of the motor,   the forged piston are stronger than the head,  so the nut punched a big hole in the head :(...

I have no clue what is done to this motor,   the carb is JUNK,   it can be fixed,  but a brand new one is $100 more..    I might just get that Fast FI set up for it.

To me at this point the motor isnt a big deal,  It would be cool if it was at least, " something close, a could be"   but in the case,  the motor cant be built after the car ;)  I think im going to just restore this car and put it away..  then find one that cheap to start with..         A one time there was a place on line,   I want to say it was in callie, that all they did was sale gm motors,   I cant find it now,  but they where on e bay,   you could search by date code etc...

Decoding/Numbers / More number for you guys
« on: September 03, 2014, 02:15:54 PM »
So i got around to getting some numbers..

So far we know that it was built 5-16-69,  X11,  V8 car,  Ext Paint is Glacier Blue With Parchment vinyl top, Interior is Ivory/Black,  Car has PDB, PS, AC,

I have looked for marking to see if its a real SS and have yet to find any,  So we are under the assumption it was a 307 with a power glide,....

With that said these numbers are off the current motor in the car which has no vin numbers.

Front of the block,      BLANK      V 1204 TBC     ( thats all it says)       From what ive searched thats a 1970 truck block.

Back of the block,     25 GM  3970010,    Those number on here make it a 69-70 block but can be in any car.

above that there is a dial,  It pointing to D  ( about 1 o clock)  below that is circle with dots,  at "12" oclock there is a  dot above it,  the arrow is pointing to 4th hump...

On to heads..   3947041,   L30  3

thats as far as ive gotten,   although i have found all the vin numbers on the body and they are same,  Not that it matter with the rust lol...

yea,  the vette is a beater...  its in good shape,  i just dont see spending the money to make is " beautiful"   the maroon has faded a LOT over the years,  and its got stress cracks all over it..    to do it correctly i guess it needs to be blasted down the gel coat,  then patched or re-gelled or something then repaint..     Right now it sorta has the dont give a **** look lol..

he did!  but we are quite a few miles apart, ;)

As i keep taking tuff apart the more i need,  and i dont do stuff half way so i guess ill have brand new 69 camaro when done :(   so not the project i wanted or the any where close to my plan...

I called about shell the other day on line,  of course no answer and no call back..   I have yet to understand why people post things for sale but dont answer the phone..

Im trying to decide if i want to get each panel or a body....   I cant get a body shop around here to tell me what the cost is,   I know they work by hours,  I dont see why it so hard to say " we charge $50.00 a hour,  or $200 a hour"   give me an idea of where im heading... if i do a floor pan, fire wall,  bottom a pillars, new 1/4's  and inner 1/4's, roof skin, etc..  it might be the same amount as just buying that body already put together...

but after two dogs and cat in the animal hospital all at the same time last week im in vet bill shock... Patrick didnt make it :-(  ( cat ) so i replaced him with two kittens... one for each kid.  Got the cremation bill for him today... now i guess i need to find a head stone...

copo,   central office production order,  which we all know,   but that was the same forums use to get the base model stuff too wasnt it,  like cop cars, cabs, etc....    So i guess he has used "choice wording" in the description

yes that would be it!  told ya dumb question.     most of mine is fine except where the wind shiled was mounted at the bottom.   The glass is still in the car but its missing a lot of that metal where the bottom of the glass touches it.  I guess the silicone didnt hold up and it rusted out.   Whats odd is the rest of its fine,  the front where the wiper motor mounts,  and the inside where the wiper arms are is fine too..

guess ill ad that to the list of parts lol...

Thanks!
