Mild Modifications / 6 speed swap, tremec TR6060
« on: December 19, 2013, 08:33:21 PM »
I was wondering if any of you have done a modern trans swap on a camaro..

We are in the process of swapping a LSA (cts-v motor) and TR6060 into a nova II for a friend, its a complete pull out with ecu and gas pedal,  anyway i was looking up the ratios of these trans and on tremec web page they have a few sets listed..  one of them is very close to the M22 close ratio trans, but of course you get the two over drive gears.

This got me thinking i would love to have that in the camaro,  then i can regear the rear end and still be highway friendly.  In my vette i have the close ratio with 4:56 gears and love it,  Unless i need to go on the free way lol..

Tremec show one of the options as "C"    1st,   2.29  2nd, 1.61, 3ed 1.21,  4th 1.00 5th, .078 6th, .067,

The M22 close ratio like i have in the vette,  1st, 2.20  2nd 1.64  3ed 1.28   4th 1.00

Im assuming ill need a cross memeber,  ( mainly becuse the nova will need one)  then maybe a hydrolic conversion,  a clutch pedal assembly and of course a clutch and shifter...

Decoding/Numbers / Help please, decoding car
« on: December 15, 2013, 03:45:14 AM »
So I picked up a 69 that I mentioned last week. Car is pretty nice but not perfect,

So far I've found they color is correct, at some point some dyed the interior from white to black, and changed the top from white to black
Along with the racing stripes.

Anyway I understand that vin doesn't tell us a lot,  the trim tag will tells some info but not everything.

I searched on here and it said a build sheet could be under rear seat,  I took that out and didn't find anything but a lot of dust lol

Next I looked under the cowl tag but I can't see any numbers under there.  Everything looks stock just no numbers. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place or something has been replaced at some point

I also read that maybe there is a tank sticker?  I know my vette has a tank sticker but wasn't sure if the camaros did.

Reason I'm curious is this a 30k actual mile car,  it's a x11 with AC, disk brakes on the front v8 350 ( not sure if original)  cowl hood , dual exhaust.   But it has a column shift ,

So any tips on what else to look for or how to figure out what I have.

My game plan was to do a copo clone but with. 632ci  6 speed manual,   However If this car is something nice I'll just restore it and put it in the garage with my other stuff and look for another rust free car

Restoration / vinyl top, rust spotter guide?
« on: December 03, 2013, 04:08:05 PM »
Ill be traveling to look at a 69 camaro on Dec 4th,    its the usual bla bla bla,  perfect car that grandmother owned.   Anyway the guy said its rust free.  In the low quality photos he sent it looks to be.   The trunk is clean as well.   What has me worried is it is vinyl top car..   The top is ripped in the photos and will have to come off.  This isnt a big deal as i dont like the top anyway.

My question is,  have any of you figured out how to spot rust under these tops.   Im assuming that if there is bubble in the top go with the idea of rust,  or if the top is spongy in places..    Im also guessing that one should check the rear pannel,  below the rear window and side to see if there is anything

Any suggestions, ideas, how to's would be awesome

Thanks

General Discussion / 68 copo with hideaway head lights?
« on: May 04, 2009, 08:15:14 PM »

First post! and very nice web page.

I was at the local cruise in and them man was telling everyone his car was an original copo 427ci car.  It was beautiful,  Black with the black dog dish wheels,  interior looked correct from what ive seen in the past. I’m not car expert.. anyway his car had hide away head lights like my 68 RS/SS car.   I’ve just never seen a copo with this grill in it, actually now that i think about im not sure I’ve seen a copo 68 model but im assuming they made them.   ever car ive seen has the two round head lights.

So those of you in the know did they ever make that?
