Originality / Re: drip pan?

On page 207 AIM it says Air Conditioning-Seals & Shield so I assume it pertains to air circulation for big block AC cars

Actually I did find it in the AIM on page Page 207 Part no. 3949856 I suppose it has to do with the AC! Ive never seen another since the time I took it off my car! I wish i could find one! Thanks for the reply!Apparently it only comes with the big block engine!

Ive owned a 69 Z10 for 33 yrs & I seem to remember when I was 18 that there was some kind of drip pan under-neath the engine, attached to the sub-frame. Mine was a little beat up so I threw it away. Well 33 yrs later I havent seen one since!  Does anyone know where I can get one????

Restoration / Re: The story of my 67 Z/28 now undergoing restoration

Thank God for Porsche lovers ;D When I was 18"1976" I saw a 69 camaro at the college when I would drop off my GF at the time! I left a note on the guys car that if he ever wanted to sell I would be interested. He called about 6 mo.later. I drove up to his house & bought it right there! I was so nervous when I drove it around the block with him! He said he was buying a Porsche.I did not know it was a Z10 396,I just wanted a 69 camaro with hidden headlights. Not my first car but I have owned ever since! Im in the process of restoring it now,I probably should have left it alone as it was a great survivor!

Maintenance / Re: 69 dash pad

Here is what I did with very good success.  I peeled up the vinyl where it wraps around the fiberglass backing to expose the fiberglass. I then cut off about 1/2" of the fiberglass so that the vinyl will fit over and around the fiberglass easily. The problem is that the vinyl shrinks after all these years. So if you make the fiberglass backing a bit shorter to accomdate the shrunk vinyl you can get it to lay over easier and stay there using the method mentioned above: Clamp the vinyl with good cement and use a piece of pine with many clamps to spread the load. I waited a couple of days before touching it. I'm very happy with the results and I agree with the "patina" of the car too. Mine is not perfect buy only a knowledgeable Camaro person, (which by the way there is no shortage of at the car shows) would find any shortcomings.

I did the same except took off about 1\4 inch ! Seemed to work fairly well, about 80% of what I wanted! Good luck!

General Discussion / Window crank handle springs
« on: June 02, 2009, 11:07:50 PM »
When taking off my door panels "deluxe" on my 69 04C I noticed their were not any window crank springs behind them. Is that unusal? Only thing behind crank were the plastic washers! Also when I took out my firewall padding I noticed that the padding itself did not go all the way to the right side of the passenger compartment. It stops just a couple of inches past the transmission tunnel. So no padding around the heater box at all! Also the padding was never "cut" it is molded on the right side! I do have AC if that matters. I post a pic but it wont post! Any help is appreciated!
