Decoding/Numbers / Re: Venezuela's Camaros....
« on: March 09, 2009, 11:11:35 PM »
Hi folks,
excuse me for my late replay, I was far away from home.
I'm  not so good with pc and other electronic stuff...
I can confirm wath KurtS says: in my cowl tag there is the vin! The very same number that you can see trough the glass on the dash (driver side).
The dash's vin also is different.... From what I see in the pics of Us-built camaros, there is a small metal plate that is riveted on the dash, in venezuela's camaros the vin number are simply stamped/molded in the dash....

Many Thanks for decoding my vin!
Do not say nothing more than I know but...
Also the cowl tag is very funny compared to us built camaros.

Decoding/Numbers / Venezuela's Camaros....
« on: March 03, 2009, 12:45:17 PM »
Hi everybody,
I own one of the few Venezuela-built '69 Camaro and I'm doing some research to know what it really is. I hope someone can help to decode its vin:

12437JC11####

12437 : Camaro V8 coupè hardtop, no problem.

JC : ????

I'm sure the letters I wrote and I double check the vin on the dash. And this numbers are in all documents (new and old) of the car. I'm sure the Camaro is '69, but serial number starts with 1, not with 5. Maybe Camaro production in Venezula starts in '69?
From the site I see that vin and cowl tag are different for outside US built Camaro but how?
Thanks in advance for any replay!
