They found the pcv valve was not assembly line correct, the gas tank showed some spotting from age (its only 1.5 yrs old) and a wiring harness clip.

Awesome show, Zl1's, yenkos, copos, Hemi's, Ls6 Chevelles etc.... So much to look at.  My car did really well.  Scored the highest in the class at 99.1%.  Since then I fixed all the items the judges found, (only three).

Wanted to get my Camaro judged.  I already did the ACA Legends and the MCACN Concours show.  Are there any other shows or clubs that do concours point judging?

Restoration / Re: Polishing and Buffing Aluminum
« on: March 19, 2011, 12:56:26 PM »
I'm currently restoring the headlamp bezels for a 68 RS grille.  First step is to remove all paint and primer.  With that removed, you will notice the entire part is anodized.  You cannot successfully anodize on top of anodizing.  Next remove any dings or dents in the bezel.  Lightly sand in various stages the area that will be polished to remove any scratches etc.  Polish in different stages.  This process removed any anodizing in the area that is not painted on the finished part.  Next remove all remaining anodizing with the caustic bath.  Re-anodize the parts.  Lightly sand the areas to be painted, prime and paint to match the center sections of the grille.  Wipe and polish the anodized finished section.

Originality / 68 - 4 speed speedometer cable clips
« on: March 17, 2011, 02:02:57 AM »
I am looking for 1, 2 or 3 of the original speedometer cable clips used on 68's with a four speed.  2 of these clips mount to the passenger side tunnel to hold the speedometer cable and 1 of them mounts to the firewall behind the distributor.  None of the current repo's that I have seen are correct.  Does anybody have one of these, or know where to get a correct original.  Thanks.

Hi, I'm the owner of the Grotto Blue 68 SS/RS Camaro.  Plainly put, all aluminum parts should be polished, than a caustic bath is used to remove old anodizing, than re anodizing.  Hopes this helps.

Not in that picture, but when I bought it in 82 it was.  Here is a scanned copy of the polaroid when I bought it in 1982 with original paint and silver lines on the grille.

Originality / Re: Underhood core support and radiator seal
« on: July 06, 2010, 12:38:32 AM »
Just a note on this.   I have the original core to hood seal for my 68 RSSS 350 AC car.  None of the repo's that I saw have the correct profile.  I contacted Mike Hinshaw at Metro Moulded Parts and sent him my original.  They are in the process of developing tooling to correctly make repo's from my original.  I have not seen them yet, but he said they will be available in late August.  Give MMP a call and ask Mike Hinshaw about them.

I have the original grille in my 07C Norwood 68 SSRS 350 and it has the silver horizontal lines.  I also found a Polaroid picture when I bought the car in 1982 showing the grille.

Originality / Re: 68 350 SS Fan application
« on: July 01, 2010, 12:51:03 AM »
The correct fan for that car is #3931002 and I believe the clutch fan is 5389475.  The number is stamped on the fan blade along with the date code (ex: G68   =July 1968)
