Decoding/Numbers / Re: 67 SS350 Engine numbers

The intake looks correct, but I don't recognize the block or heads.
The block should be 3892657 and the heads should be 3890462.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: '67 VIN and Cowl Tag
« on: February 03, 2006, 01:06:46 PM »
Hi Andrew,
  Yes your vin lines up perfectly to the build date and body number on the cowl tag.
I am the one you contacted by e-mail.  camarodan@juno.com is the e-mail address that I have listed in the decoder program that you used to send me your cars data.

The car is defiantly worth restoring.  It just depends on what you what to do with it.  With the documentation you have and since you still have the original drive train, I would say the car is worth even more than lakeholme has posted.  Of corse how much more is up to the potential buyer.
I looked in CRG's data base and we do not have your car recorded.  If you would like to have it added, e-mail me or post the data hear.

General Discussion / Re: SS350 3 speed production figures
« on: January 31, 2006, 01:16:36 PM »
The SS 350 with a 3-speed was not a very common combo.  There is no way to know for sure just how may were built.  In CRG's data base we show that about 3% of the SS 350's had 3-speeds.  If this number is representative of the actual production that would mean that under 900 of the SS 350's had 3-speeds.  If I had your car I would leave the 3-speed in the car just for the being different factor.
I would like to get your cars data for our data base if possible.  Not many of the 3-speeds have survived.  If you would like to help, e-mail me or post the data hear.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 67 convertable 10 bolt rear decode issue
« on: January 24, 2006, 12:29:18 PM »
That is a fairly common axle for a base line Camaro.  It is a 3.08 non-posi 10 bolt.
I don't believe we have your car in our data base.  If you would like to have it added, e-mail me.

Daniel, I also have an LOS car. Which style of the two does your car have?

Not sure, I would have to look.  I know mine is painted gray though.

I don't think there was only one jack used.  I know my jack is gray and does not have the logo "Camaro 1967 UN" stamped on it.  Not sure if this is a NOR vs LOS thing or what.  I know for sure there were diffrent jack baces used.

Loren,
  Interesting.  I have never seen the optional (V32) guards like this before.  Thanks for pointing this out.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: HOW AND WHO to submit '68 info for the database
« on: January 06, 2006, 12:30:08 PM »
Well, from your standpoint, just posting or sending the data on your car to one of the CRG members.
From our standpoint, we look at the data for any obvious errors, ask questions if needed, format the data to be added to the data base, and make or update the data in the data base.
The more info the better (vin#, cowl tag data, engine code, trans code, axle code, original paperwork, ect).

Condition is everything.  Matching #'s help a lot, but if it is a rust bucket, it still will not be worth much.  I would say we need more info on the car.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 67 Cowl Tag Trim Designation
« on: November 15, 2005, 06:44:42 PM »
Here is how the hole tag decods:

Decode for body number: 099552
03D = Built the Fourth week of March.
67-12467 = Standard Interior Convertible.
NOR = Built in Norwood Ohio.
717 = Standard Blue Bucket Seats.
Z = (A50) Strato Bucket Seats (without headrests).
F-1 = Lower Color is Marina Blue and the Convertible Top Color is White.
B = Interior paint is Blue
Options:
1D = (C06) Power top convertible
2G = (D55) Console front compartment
3S = (Z23) Interior Decor group
3K = (Z21) Deluxe exterior trim
4F = (D33) Mirror Remote Control
4N = (L35) SS 396

Tire stripe has no influance.
Stripe color fallows the top color.

I take it the car has a 3-speed trans?  Any of the original drive train left?  What is the vin#?

It might be.  Can you post a picture of the top of the mast?

Looks like the waterpump is ok.  I believe the starter should be 1108338.  Yes, there is a baffle in the bottom of the oil pan.

Here is how the cowl tag decodes:
Decode for body number: 120222
09A = Built the First week of September.
69-12437 = Coupe.
NOR = Built in Norwood Ohio.
711 = Standard Black Bucket Seats.
57-57 = Car Color is Fathom Green
X66 = SS396 without style trim

If the cowl tag is real, then the 10 bolt axle is not original.  Can you get the production code from the 4-speed?  Look here for more info: http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#TransmissionNumbers
You should also post the vin# so we can make sure the tags have not been swapped.
