Originality / Is there suppose to be a bracket for the rear license plate?

Just installed my rear license plate after installing a new gas tank and got to wondering if there is suppose to be a bracket back there.  My rear plate and frame has always been bent from tightening the screws to secure it.

Maintenance / 67 Accelerator Pedal Rod Support

Is there anything inside the accelerator pedal rod support itself that can wear out or needs replacing other than the two plastic bushings?  Should I replace the entire pedal rod support? 

My pedal is low and does not seem to engage the throttle arm at all.  It is at the floor and will need adjusting, but since I need to order the bushings, pedal spring, and pedal to rod pin since they are missing, I would like to get it all at once.

General Discussion / Differences in exhaust kit for 67 ss350 vs 67 z28?

Hey guys,

I will be buying an exhaust system kit through D&R for my 67rs/ss and was curious to see if anyone knows if their 2-1/4" kit (z00086-2) listed for a 67/68 z28 will fit my ss350 in the stock mounting locations with their stock hangers and hardware.

I know they have a 2" system (z00086) listed for a 67/68 but was hoping the bigger system would fit with no modifications???

I plan on calling and asking D&R the same question but wanted to see if anyone here has first hand knowledge before I call...

Maintenance / Throttle arm attachment?

I was cleaning up the engine compartment when the throttle arm came loose.

Looks like the pedal rod presses into the the half circle shaped hole but is there a pin or clip that secures it and prevents it from slipping out? 

Checked the AIM but didn't see anything that shows a retainer or clip of some sort...

Tried researching exhaust systems for my 67 (L48 01C) since I need to replace mine soon and have a few questions.

what were the original exhaust components (pipes, muffler, resonators) made of?  aluminum or stainless steel?

What were the purpose of the resonators?  Did they make the system louder or quieter?  Where were they placed within the system?

No chambered exhaust option for 67 correct?

Maintenance / Is this tear is vent window rubber fixable?

I have had these since vent seals since buying my car back in '98.  The previous owner bought them to replace the current ones on the car now.

As I was taking something off the shelf in my garage it hooked itself on to this vent rubber and caused about a 1/2" tear to the top corner.

Is this still useable and/or repairable?  I would want to install them only to find out they will leak water or air later on

Also, is any one able to tell if this is NOS or an aftermarket replacement?

Restoration / Correct alternator belt for 67 350?

Just put original iron intake and script valve covers on and the alternator belt does not fit.  The alternator hits the valve cover which doesn't allow the belt to slip over the pulleys.  That's with all the brackets loose too.  

Engine is L48 350 w/ AIR and PS and no AC

Anyone know the dimensions and/or part number I would need?  AIM shows p/n 3847708 for a V8 and Pep Boys gave me what's in their computer...

Restoration / '67 accelerator return spring: was there a bracket?

Did a search and didn't find much for a 67.  did 67's use a accelerator return spring bracket?  The 67 AIM UPC6 D2 shows one (p/n 3904249) that looks to be attached with the coil bracket.  Could not find any reproduced through heartbeat city or classic muscle.  Anyone know where to get one if one is required?  Any pics?

Just continuing my project of putting my car back to as original as possible.  Was is possible that the following list of parts were available in chrome for '67?

Open element air cleaner
Oil fill tube
Upper alternator bracket
Timing chain cover & timing tab
Chevrolet script valve covers


I am sure the air filter is not original since my car was AIR equipped but what about the other parts?

My car is an 01C 1967 rs/ss L48 MV block with AIR. Thanks,

Maintenance / Lubing after sitting for a year?

This the current state of my car.  It has been sitting for a year while i knocked out a bunch of projects on it.  Since it has been sitting it looks dry in the valley and rockers.  Before I install the intake can I oil up these areas as a precaution? If so where exactly?

Trying to find TDC on my 350 (without a piston stop tool) and found these paint marks.  If I rotate these to 0 will that be TDC?  If not, what are they for?

Wondering what this threaded hole is just to the right of the windshield wiper motor (toward bottom) on my 67 350 01C?  It seems to be about 1/4" in diameter.  Thanks

Originality / Size of original Battery tray mount and clamp bolts???

Looking to put an oil pressure gauge line for 67 console gauges and want to know if any of these pictures show the correct firewall hole?  Sorry, for the tiny pics...
