Restoration / 67 water pump mounting bolts
« on: April 25, 2023, 12:21:54 AM »
Anyone have pics or can give direction on the correct water pump bolts and their locations for a 67 350 (L48)?  Some parts vendors show 2 studs but the 4 I removed had bolts (no studs).  Had to drill a couple out because they were frozen in the block and the heads were rounded off.

I went through the AIM but couldn’t find a diagram.

Thanks

I’m in the process of installing a Powerglide back in my car and have noticed both ball studs at either end of my kickdown rod pop off so easily.  This is the rod that goes between the kickdown lever and the shifter.

This is the part I’m referring to: https://www.heartbeatcitycamaro.com/18467/67-68-69-Camaro-Powerglide-Kick-Down-Linkage-Rod/

This cannot be normal can it?  I purchased it a couple of years ago but it is new and never been in service.  Should I buy another to replace this one or am I missing something?

Thanks Guys

General Discussion / Radius rod forward bracket to frame screw
« on: January 06, 2021, 10:43:26 PM »
Im trying to add a radius rod to my car.  On the forward bracket, what does this tapered screw in to in the frame?  Right now I just have about a 9/16" hole, too big to catch any threads.  Is there a cage nut like the front leaf spring perch?  If so, how do I get it in?

Maintenance / Keep blowing CLK-LTR/CTSY fuse
« on: February 16, 2018, 12:29:42 AM »
I keep blowing the CLK-LTR/CTSY HAZ 20 amp fuse.  While trying to track down the problem and instead of burning through fuses, is there another way to test?

I thought it was the door jamb pin switch because the threads are stripped so I put a nut on the backside of the switch and cleaned the paint around the switch but it still blows the fuse.

Maintenance / Is this a Packard 56 series terminal?

This was on the glove box light wire and I am looking to replace it.  Anyone know the type of terminal this is?  Thanks

My car: '67 L48 350 with K24 & K19

I Just installed this crankcase vent tube:

And after dropping in the distributor, I noticed there is now limited rotation of the distributor.  Will this cause a problem when trying to time the motor?

I ask because I was using the test light method to set static timing mentioned in one of David Vizard's book but couldn't get the light to go off due to the lack of distributor rotation.  I have about 4" of rotation before the distributor hits either the vent tube or intake manifold.

Also, when the nut is installed on this bolt:

it's pretty tight and a distributor wrench doesn't get much travel when tightening or loosening the distributor hold down bolt.  Is this normal as well?

Originality / Help identifying crankcase vent tube
« on: February 05, 2017, 02:19:02 PM »
Any one able to tell what this crankcase vent tube is from (makes/models/years)?

I'm assuming a car with K19 A.I.R. Since it has the diverter valve bracket.

Measures 15" long.

Thanks,

Joe

Ok guys, my car is ’67 RS/SS 4 barrel quadrajet L48 California car with K19 & K24 and originally a Powerglide (if that matters).  My PCV is threaded into the oil fill tube with a non vented cap and I have no holes in the chrome script valve covers.  I’ve done some research but still have a few questions.

Can some confirm for me before I make a purchase with Paragon Corvette, that with the closed PCV system I would need the block adapter tube shown on K24 A2 of the AIM p/n 3881848?  If so, is this the one I need: https://www.paragoncorvette.com/p-353523-crankcase-vent-tube-nova-327350-hp.aspx

Also, in the AIM, K19 A10 shows an air cleaner p/n: 6424487 with two tubes in the base (which is the one I have) but K24 A2 shows an air cleaner with a p/n of 6424486.  This air cleaner has filter in the side wall of air cleaner base.  Which one would be correct or how do I know which one I would need?

Lastly, K24 A2 shows two bungs on the oil fill tube going to two different places on the carb.  Is that just to show the two different set ups?

Maintenance / Quadrajet Float Bowl: Is anything not repairable?
« on: April 24, 2015, 09:50:24 PM »
I have to send out the bowl to have the fuel inlet heli-coiled because they are a bit worn,  but before I do, I don't want to get my hopes up.  From these pictures, Is anything not repairable/reusable within the float bowl itself?

Maintenance / Any other options for crankcase ventilation?
« on: March 27, 2015, 06:36:37 PM »
I have my original oil fill tube with PCV connection and wanted to try to use that and use my original chrome script valve covers (no baffles or holes for PCV/breather).  I also have the old air cleaner with two tubes in the base.

I do not have the ventilator can in the block under the intake manifold or the connection at the back of the block.  There is a freeze plug back there now.

Question is, am I limited to using aftermarket valve covers, which I have already, with a PCV (driver side) and breather (passenger side) until I get the ventilator and connector set up correctly or is there another way to ventilate the engine using my original parts?  Thanks!

Originality / Which Throttle Rod is Correct for 67 RS/SS 350?
« on: March 25, 2015, 02:29:44 PM »
Which type of throttle rod would be correct for a 67 RS/SS L48 with 4MV quadrajet?  The AIM shows what looks like the first one but Classic Muscle also says theirs (the second pic) is correct.

Also, which hole would the rod connect to, he largest diameter hole (which would need a bushing) or the smaller hole?  I am guessing the tiniest hole gets the carb return spring right?  The very bottom stud will be getting the 700R4 TV connection...

Thanks

After searching ebay for dealer license plate frames, I noticed some frames have the location of the dealer located on top of the frame and the dealer name on the bottom.  Others frames of the same dealership are reversed with the dealer name on top and the city on the bottom.

Is there any significance to these variations?  Should I be looking for two similar frames for my car (both with name on top/ location on bottom or vice versa) or could the dealer have put one of each on the car and called good?  Thanks

Maintenance / Question on exhaust manifold tube support
« on: February 19, 2014, 04:05:09 PM »
I am trying to install D&R’s 2-1/4” exhaust system (non-chambered) and have a question because this kit had no instructions and I have never done this before.

How tight do the extensions fit inside the pipes? Mine seem like I would have to press them in for them to fit inside the pipes.

I am talking about these small extension tubes that support the donut into the exhaust manifold seen here: http://www.heartbeatcitycamaro.com/store/product/21193/Camaro-Exhaust-manifold-tube-SB-1967-1968-1969-1970-1971-1972/

Restoration / Installing Exhaust System
« on: November 22, 2013, 07:07:17 PM »
1967 SS/SS 350.  I will be installing D&R Classics 2-1/4" exhaust kit and have some questions and looking for any tips to make the job go smoother.

First off, are hand tools (and a torque wrench) enough or do I need air tools?  I noticed the in/lbs torque specs in the AIM.

According to the 67 AIM, the tailpipe hanger bolts were threaded into the coupe frame with riv nuts.  Do I need them?  Heartbeat city has some listed but for the LH side only.  My current set up does not have them.  Both hangers were threaded directly into the frame with screws (pictured) but no riv nuts.  I know the exhaust system has been replaced in the past by the previous owner, but I believe the tailpipe hangers and screws are originals.  Here are some pics if anyone can verify if they are originals.

Tailpipe hanger screws:

Tailpipe hangers:
pass side

drivers side:

The original muffler hangers and screws were missing when I removed the exhaust system currently installed.  I am sure this bracket is wrong?  Also looking for the correct location of the muffler hangers, and type of screws if anyone has any.  Here are where mine were mounted
