Restoration / Under-dash assembly steps
« on: July 16, 2010, 08:59:16 PM »
I'm about to start putting all of the under-dash stuff in my 67.  Only a few switches are installed now so before I start I thought I'd quiz you guys on what the best procedure might be.  By that I mean in what order should I install the parts?  I believe I saw in someone's pictures that they put the heater control assembly in first.

Restoration / Removing front clip- best procedure
« on: July 13, 2010, 08:46:57 PM »
I'm about to remove the front clip from my 67.  I need to redo some things that the body shop got a little sloppy on.  Anyway, since the car has been painted I'm a bit nervous about removing body parts, much less the whole front clip.

Can some of you tell me the best procedure for removing the thing.  I'm assuming it would be best to remove the entire clip as a unit.  I'd feel better getting advice from those who have done it before rather than wing it.  I know some of you have done it many times.

Thanks.

Restoration / 67 Quadrajet question...........
« on: November 10, 2009, 10:02:53 AM »
I have a newly rebuilt 67 SS350 engine.  Pretty much everything on the engine is new or rebuilt, including the quadrajet.  It starts and idles nicely, the timing has been set,  but the quadrajet still needs work.  I wanted to ask those of you that have dealt with this a question before I proceed.

Though the engine starts and idles nicely it produces terrible fumes.  It doesn't smoke, but even with the back of the car by the garage door which is wide open you can't stay in the room with the car while it's running because the fumes are so bad.  There really isn't much on the outside of the carb to adjust so should I anticipate that the carb is not functioning properly and will probably need to be removed and repaired?

As I said, the carb was rebuilt but it sat for a long time until I was ready to use it.

Restoration / Trans install question
« on: September 20, 2009, 09:10:27 PM »
I'm still working on the 67 RS/SS I've mentioned here before.  I do most of the work by myself out in the garage, as I'm sure a lot of you do.  I've called in help when I needed two or three sets of hands, like removing the hood or installing the Muncie.  Which is what leads me to my question.

I picked up a transimission jack so that I could attempt to install the Muncie by myself this time.  It was in once but I had to remove it to address a couple of issues.  I've always done this the hard way with two of us under the car to lift it into place.  Now I'm using the jack and the trans seems to be hanging up and not going in all the way.  I don't want to break an ear on the case so I'm hesitant to crank the mounting bolts too tight but it seems like the thing just doesn't want to go that last 1/4" to 3/8" (more or less).  I've tried several ways to get it to go but it still seems to hang up.

Any suggestions or wisdom from some of you veterans that have done this many times before?  I'd sure appreciate it.

Restoration / GM exhaust pipe sealer substitute
« on: March 29, 2009, 11:06:46 PM »
I'm installing a new stock exhaust system in my 67 SS350 restoration project I've been working on.  I see that the AIM calls for a grease based sealer PN 9985020 at the pipe joints.  Could someone tell me a good substitute for that?  Thanks.

Restoration / 67 roof drip rail molding install
« on: March 01, 2009, 10:39:34 PM »
I'm installing a new set of drip rail moldings on my 67.  I hear they're a tight fit anyway, but mine has a new vinyl top which makes it even worse.  Does anyone have any experience with this that can describe how to do it without damaging the moldings?  Thanks.

Originality / 67 SS350 carb spring
« on: January 29, 2009, 06:53:10 PM »
Could someone please post a picture or diagram, or direct me to one, that shows the correct carb return spring setup for the 67 SS 350.  Thanks.

Originality / 67 Muncie shifter installation
« on: January 25, 2009, 03:17:15 PM »
Could someone direct me to a diagram showing the installation of the Muncie shifter on a 67 Camaro?  My car hasn't had one since I got it back in 1975.  I have a new shifter and hardware kit which, of course, does not come with a diagram.

Thanks.
