Mild Modifications / Re: Advice/opinion on 14 X 6" Rally wheels
« on: February 02, 2010, 10:05:54 PM »
:D I can answer your question's on this one , here is a pic of my 67 with 14 X 6 rally wheel's all the way around ,
mine are original GM wheel's code XG is the best one for use with disk brakes the XG code wheel's have a lip on the back of them that allow's them to clear the disk brake's , code XN wheel's will fit and work wth drum brake's , I don't know what to tell you as far as ordering repro wheel's ???  ??? I guess just call the company and ask , MY PERSONAL ADVISE is to buy used original GM wheel's off ebay they are alway's on there and cheap ! just do a search type in XG rally , anyway my wheel's don't scrub and sit in the wheelwell nice ! in the front and rear here is a couple of pic's ,,,,,, good luck ,,,,,,

I've got more pic's of other angle's if you need to see more ,,,

you know around here I have been pulling part's from car's out in the mountains for 25 plus year's I hav found chevelles / nova's / cuda's / challenger's / mustang's and a host of other car's to get part's from but I HAVE NEVER IN 25 YEAR'S EVER SEEN A CAMARO OR A CAMARO PART OUT IN THE MOUNTAIN'S AROUND HERE LIKE IN THOSE PIC'S ? you know all those car's are fixable if they have a vin tag on them they can be an probably will be built back ,,

HEY WAIT A MINUTE ????? I did not think they stamped a VIN on 327 210's ????

after reading all the info on the car he is upset because it is two car's made into one , if the cowl area and the vin match a real 1968 block then all you would need is a good solid six banger to put all the Z stuff on which is what will happen whether it get's done by the current owner or future owners IT WILL GET DONE , I did not read whether or not it had paperwork to go with it ? if it doe's then a rebody is almost certain !

probably not anything you could do , this is a real common thing nowaday's and really for the last several year's I'd say a LOT of people bought car's that were replica's or clone's of a more popular HIGHER PRICED model than they were when new ,, it's a real shame that you can't look at a car now and just go by what's on the cowl tag and take it to be what it say's , the most popular clone is the 69 Z/28 but all the Z's and L78's have been beat to death with fake cowl tag's fake paperwork and even fake protect-o-plate's like that guy in florida that will stamp you a protect-o-plate and make it whatever you want it to be , I would say that in the near future camaro's will remain popular car's because of the styling of the era they come from but the day's of saying a six cylinder isn't worth much and a Z is worth a LOT ARE OVER ! these car's will change hand's and be valued according to the condition they are in and the option's that they have at the time NOT what some type of fake paper say's ,,

I am confused ? CR do you have two car's ? or is this one the one you asked about in the other post that was all original never painted or bothered ? why would you remove an original 396 to reinstall a 454 ?

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Need reproduction VIN
« on: January 02, 2010, 10:25:45 PM »
if this happen's 1967 1968 and 1969 camaros will be even harder to trust as REAL this will be a direct way of changing a six cylinder 12337 car into a V8 12437 car as the hidden vin only has the LXXXXXX or NXXXXXX I don't guess it matter's because as of right now they refake everything but the vinplate I guess that's the final puzzle part ,,

Originality / Re: Making a coupe into a convertible
« on: January 02, 2010, 05:10:39 PM »
I have alway's kinda wanted a convertible but don't know if I would like one if I had it , I would NOT turn a coupe into a covertible if I was to one day try to obtain a 1967 camaro convertible the route I would take would be either to take a 1967 firebird body and put camaro panel's on it or buy the worst RUSTED WRECKED BENT POS SIX CYLINDER CAMARO CONVERTIBLE ON EARTH to build one out of , the coupe to convertible coversion would be out !
