General Discussion / Re: 69' Z/28 Fake Cowl Tag ???
« on: February 13, 2011, 02:46:31 AM »
WOW, I gotta say I had yet to see a tag like this. I learned something new today. Even a blind squirrel finds an accorn ONCE in a while! Thanx, fun as always. And Paul, thanx for always posting the link. For some reason, I don't know how to get that to work. Oh well, where's that accorn again............ ::)

General Discussion / 69' Z/28 Fake Cowl Tag ???
« on: February 12, 2011, 08:56:20 PM »
This tag doesn't look correct. The letter's and number's have different texture and embossment. Weird......Also why is the "O" On Norwood crunched-in like that on the right side ? I have never seen an "O" Like that on NOR. It's on eBay and has a picture of the Protecto Plate and Build Sheet also. Plate looks right. What do you guys think?? .........Danny

I mentioned long ago in one of my first posts...I always smell the paper. It has that certain scent to it that newer paper of course does not have. And the best way is to have it in a folder that is sealed or near sealed prior to the sniffing. But yes, the water spotting is a nice effort.

General Discussion / Re: VIN #'s ; Order of Assignment & Locations
« on: December 27, 2010, 12:56:53 AM »
With all due respect.......Wow, that sure is alot of info needed. I would say I might be able to answer most of those question's, however I am not sure if that would be wise, on this site or other. Ya better wait for JohnZ, Jerry M., Paul, and the other top few amigos on here to make that call. Sometimes it hurts the hobby with reguard to people trying to duplicate info for incorrect cars. I learned my lesson already.

Hey look, you mentioned about the VIN and turned right around and did the same thing...too funny....   you wrote,"Did the VIN #   ;D   ......Danny

Hey Rodent, yes I have those tools. I have TOO many tools really. But I am in agreement with Tmodel. It can float all over the area. Be nice to have something that can be screwed to the center of the crank. Hence the whole purpose of this tool. Oh well, I don't need it right this second. Maybe something will turn up. Then I am going to make 25 of them and sell them....ha ha.........Danny

General Discussion / Bell housing alignment tool, anybody got one for sale?
« on: December 22, 2010, 06:23:39 AM »
Well, I left a total of 3 messages at the company that makes the bell housing tool, I am done. After reading all the info here at CRG I decided to purchase that tool. However they just don't seem to want to sell me one. I guess I am small time.

Not real good business. I have returned most ALL my calls with-in a 24 hour period for the last 25 years.

Anyway, anybody know the trick to getting this tool? I got a 73' bridgeport 5 feet away, with digital calibration. I can turn my own if I can just borrow someones. I was trying to support a company, but I am ageing waiting for them to call me back.

Any idea's.........Danny

WOW!! you guys are good! And certainly got more knowledge than I, by a long shot. I love to learn. I looked it over carefully and was hoping the tip of the dipstick wasn't green. But it is.

BUT the Radiator petcock looks wrong to me. Shoudn't the fins be facing open TOWARDS the engine?

Also the interior paint pattern on the horn button looks to be repro??

Also looks like the piston return springs might be after market??.......Danny

Thanks Ed, but nothing like that comes up. I am familiar with those as Craigslist and other's use that system. This does not have that. There is nothing to enter, that's why I can't figure it out. Can you give me an email address to contact someone over at TC? Or have them email me or ?????????

General Discussion / Re: Do these stamps and tag look ok
« on: December 09, 2010, 09:09:21 PM »
Well guys I pretty much figured it was all restamped. I wonder if it even started out as a X33 Z/28. The cowl tag rivets look funny and sticking out to me. The pad stamp looked pretty good. Too bad they took a few thousandths off to clean it up. Sequence , VIN, it just all doesn't add up. Beautiful car though for 40K. Well off to New Orleans for my 50th. Over and out......Danny
