Looking at this car. It is supposed to have the original engine. I had them remove the paint from the front pad. Not that great of a cleaning job... Opinions?  Danny

General Discussion / Drive on Track Day 2019
« on: January 13, 2019, 07:43:25 AM »
Today was the laps for charity at the local "Sonoma Raceway". As last year, I paid the $150 and got a few laps on the main track and a couple on the Nascar track. Had a little trouble keeping up {NOT kidding} with original brakes/shocks/and new bias ply tires. A little sideways in several places on the track and plenty of 4 wheel drift. They had me with a new corvette, Miata's and other modern sports cars. Got up to 90 MPH! At one point I was sideways at turn 2 and looked down and I was going 50MPH  :o  I asked to be last for a reason. A lot faster this year. Last year I was with the pack and backed off on purpose so I could jump on it at the stands. This year, not the case, no need to hang back. I couldn't keep up. Good Times  ;D   Danny

General Discussion / How to pack a battery for shipment
« on: December 21, 2018, 08:08:45 PM »
This is valuable info that aligns itself with our hobby.
I have received several Chevrolet batteries the last 4 or 5 years by mail that have been damaged beyond repair. All of them were unusable. Some in boxes with virtually NO packing came broken in pieces. Since I have the common sense of several men... I thought I would post a few pictures on what I consider the proper way to package a battery for shipment. I have sent out 10 batteries this way, ALL arrived in perfect condition. Ask Chick and Dave how their Y55's arrived from 2,650 miles away. I also sent 13 THOUSAND dollars in toys to a collector in Texas. ALL arrived in perfect shape. 40 years of shipping, NO damage claims... Danny

General Discussion / '67 Big Block Camaro
« on: December 20, 2018, 03:36:41 AM »
I have a friend who is flying out to Oklahoma next week to look at a car for sale. It is a '67 Camaro SS big block 4-speed convertible. It has a '69 396 in it, and he knows it is NOT numbers matching. His concern is... how does he tell if the car ORIGINALLY was a big block car to begin with from the factory? I am trying to get the VIN and maybe a pic of the cowl tag. But is there a list of things he can look at straight away to distinguish?... Danny

General Discussion / MCACN ? Who's going?
« on: November 13, 2018, 01:41:20 AM »
Who is going to MCACN? I have BEEN DOWN FOR THE COUNT for 19 days with dangerous tooth extraction/infection. SOOOO painful and frustrating. I lost THOUSANDS of dollars in work. Was just told today 4pm that I might not be able to fly  :(  >:(    I have one last check-up on Wednesday at 4pm. This will determine if I fly out Thursday at 2pm. I guess it's not good to fly with tooth/mouth issues? Always something I guess. HEY.. I called Charlie { Hubleyman} yesterday to see if he would want to take my place. He is TOO busy. Maybe I can transfer my flight and hotel to a member. I'll call American Airlines Tom. I will try to post Wed. Wish me luck! Danny

This is for all the HO paint guys!! JUST found out this car was for sale. Car is about 30 minutes from me. Guy's name is Jeff. I met him a while back at a Cars & Coffee. He had Jerry M inspect it about 9 years ago. He really took the time to make this car right and correct just about EVERY issue Jerry noted. I am going down to see it hopefully Saturday. Danny

« on: October 26, 2018, 03:32:07 AM »
This car is very nice. $125 THOUSAND dollars nice? I wish they would show block casting date and Trans Production #'s and VIN. And while you're at it, toss in all numbers on Rear Axle. For that kind of money ya better show me the goods! Looks like it has replacement shocks. Anybody know this car ? Danny

General Discussion / VERY interesting Garage Find Today, NOT a Camaro
« on: September 26, 2018, 05:56:56 AM »
I tried to post on the Yenko site and couldn't make it happen. It said all kinds of things about security codes and ??? Couldn't load any pictures. So was hoping someone could jump this over there for me? If this is taking up space, go ahead and delete it. Either way, I need some expert advice on this car to start.

Took a ride this morning to go look at a house that needs a complete re-plumb. I think the house is dated about 1949. The owner and I talked about cars at a recent car show, that's where I gave him my bus card. In a garage nearby was a 1963 Chevrolet Fuel Injected Split Window Corvette Z06 Hardtop! I think it is one of 195. I guess they made 4 convertibles? He gave me SO Much info I couldn't keep up. 4 Plastic spacers under hood, some cars have 1 or 2 or 3 or NONE. Do the tags and stamps look good? Those round rivets look suspect? And how do I tell if it is a REAL Z06 Fuelie. Rare double line master cylinder. 55,000 original miles. He bought it  just a few years after '63. Car has a later 327 installed. Original engine ??? on stand next to car.  There are other cars including a 1968 Corvette Bronze RS Z/28! Due to privacy I have blocked out a lot of the info. But there is enough to get started. Thanx for your time... Danny

My friend wanted me to fly with him to Texas to look at this car. I asked for important pictures FIRST. Got them today. Looks like a restamp trans. You can see an old 3 and other things from the original stamp. Block date in relation to car build?? I don't think we are flying down there. Too bad, was a cool story.. Danny
