Decoding/Numbers / 69' Z/28 Crossram JL8 on eBay.. Real JL8 Car?
« on: December 26, 2012, 05:20:58 AM »
Do we know of this cortez silver Z/28 on eBay? Is it in the DB as a real factory JL8 car? It sure is beautiful. Very nice job on the pictures and presentation. Just curious what we know about it. Cowl tag looks to be a little over sanded... Real Tag?... Danny

Decoding/Numbers / ANOTHER Z28 on eBay 10 10 code, rivets weird?
« on: December 07, 2012, 07:51:27 AM »
Here is my dream car. They really did a heck of a job on this baby. It is near perfect. But check out the cowl tag rivets. Look strange to ya'all. Is the cowl tag even real GM? Like Kurt mentioned a while back more than once.... the 10 10 code has been faked for years since the 70's. Sure would be nice to see some pictures of a real documented 69' Z/28 R/S code 10 10 ...

Also this one from the same company. These guys only have 2 feedbacks on ebay. Wonder if the other cars were real?

This is a really nice ride. Very well done all around. But the cowl tag seems to be stamped weird. After the NOR the numbers have more space. Is this thing a repop?... Danny

Decoding/Numbers / Camaro Z28 Cowl Tag... Real?
« on: November 22, 2012, 07:58:58 AM »
This tag looks like it has that famous issue several times. Ya know what I mean. Tryed to get it to look better, but I think you can tell. Looks like a repop to me. Such a late build. Shouldn't it be a D80? Or does it have to be? What say you?.. Danny

Decoding/Numbers / Z/28 on ebay
« on: October 02, 2012, 11:51:07 PM »
This is a very nice car. But the cowl looks wrong to me. Kinda crooked on the numbers. And the VIN stamp on the block is the deepest I have ever seen. Never seen one SO easy to read. What say you?..... Danny

Originality / Don L Posi Sticker, Nice work eh!
« on: August 13, 2012, 02:53:50 AM »
Hey Don I went to your website. Nice job for sure. I noticed some things you might be interested in. This is the differences between the current repro and the original that I found.
Looks like you have addressed pretty much everything. Except like you mentioned the thickness of the center cross line. And also the distance of that line is lower on original from bottom of lettering. And maybe a little more space between the apostrophe and the “R”.  Nice!! … Danny
Ok here we go...

# 1  - The “ C “ in caution is cut nearly straight down and does not roll over. In fact, each cut of the “C” is tapered back a few percent.
# 2 – The top of the “T” cross is shorter on the original.
# 3 – The “O” on caution on the original is rounder, and not oval shaped. And that goes for all 10 “O’s”
# 4 – There is more space between each letter on the word C a u t i o n. Also that “C” in that word is cut back like the others.
# 5 – The three horizontal lines on the “E” in the word Vehicle are the same length. Your center is shorter. And that goes for all 23 of them.
# 6 – The cross run thru line on the “Q” of equipped goes thru the letter into the center and is cut straight horizontally.
# 7 – Hard to tell from the picture, but all the period’s look to have more space showing between the last letter on the originals.
# 8 – Horizontal center lines on all “F” are shorten on original.
# 9 – The “G” in “Ground” and “Though” has no right side down tail on original.
# 10 – The Dash in between Trans  “ - “  Mission is lower, fatter, and longer on the original.
# 11 – The apostrophe on Owners has more space between the “R” and the “S” on the original.
# 12 – All lettering AND numbering has more white space between each letter, and INSIDE each letter.

How did I do??    ;D

Decoding/Numbers / Northern CA 68' Z/28... Real?
« on: August 07, 2012, 12:44:03 AM »
This car looks like a replica to me. What say you all? Emblem WAY to far back on fender among other things. This car is just a few minutes from me. But I don't think I wanna even go see it.

Decoding/Numbers / 1968 Z/28 on eBay, looks like restamped pad??
« on: August 07, 2012, 12:23:56 AM »
This one is a nice car but it looks like it has had some work done on the pad. Smooth areas where the numbers are. And rough where they are not. Also numbers are crooked and not in a straight row. The "%" amd the "MO" are jumped up about a full 1/8th of an inch???  What do we think? Look suspicious to me... Danny

« on: June 27, 2012, 04:05:53 PM »
