General Discussion / Horn Button Repair, R & R Tricks
« on: January 28, 2015, 03:44:16 AM »
Can anybody do a little run thru with me as I have not pulled a steering wheel in 20 years. The horn button is frozen and will not depress. It is a N34 wheel. Disconnect battery? How does the cap come off. Pry it up with a rubber tipped tool, or carefully with screwdriver? Then I think I remember a trick of backing off the nut until it is at the end of it's threads, then give it a good whack with a single jack? Which if I remember helps pop loose the wheel. Then what? Interior pic's would be great..... Danny

General Discussion / 1968 Z28?
« on: January 27, 2015, 02:13:19 AM »
This is a '68 Z/28 with DZ block in it cause it's a March car. SWEET... NOT! I see a few things that could be correct, and a few that are not. What say yawl? Pretty easy the way it is to check ALL hidden VIN's.... Danny

General Discussion / Leaving Friday Morning for Turlock, Need any Parts?
« on: January 22, 2015, 10:10:46 PM »
Well I got a room for Friday and Saturday night. Heading to Turlock for the big Swap meet with a couple friends. Should be a good time. If you are a member of CRG and you are going, lets connect and BS a little.  I will be looking for a few items for myself. But if anyone has a request for any small pocket parts, LMK. I will be looking for NOS door stops and floor mats for Chick. And a few other items for other guys. I decided since it is SO BIG I am not going to lug a wagon or cart, just gonna walk it. I of course don't wanna look for giant rear-ends etc. BUT, I can get info from the seller and put you in contact with them as applicable. So if you have anything you need email it to me direct with your contact number.. Danny

General Discussion / Corvette rims and trim rings different than Camaro ?
« on: January 13, 2015, 06:13:02 PM »
Are the 15" X 6" & 7" rims the same on both of these cars. Cause I see all these being offered, along with trim rings by Corvette guys. And the trim rings are not notched for the valve stem at the bottom they are closed in, like the SEVEN inch Camaro trim rings. I email the seller and mention this to them and they tell me they are for sure 15" X 6". All the six inch ones I have seen for sale, and even the one at heartbeat has an open bottom for the stem. And they are described six inch. What's the deal, are these rims and rings configured differently? ... Danny

General Discussion / Found this in a box outside in the rain
« on: January 10, 2015, 07:24:49 AM »
I found this in a box of junk outside at my house a few days ago. Finally got around to shooting some pic's. I think this came of my first '67 Camaro. I was told by a Camaro friend that this is gold. I guess it's kinda scarce, and would be valuable to a guy that was restoring a '67/'68. However, Gold might be pushing it  ;D I don't even know if they are the same for all 3 first gen years. What can anybody tell me about this, as far as what is it's correct application? Going to add it to the trade pile... Danny

General Discussion / 15" X 7" Rallys clear everything on a '68
« on: January 07, 2015, 05:54:52 AM »
Will 15" X 7" Rally wheels clear everything on my '68 Camaro at stock height? Want to have an extra set, then put on originals for shows etc.
The tires are P265/50SR15 Dunlop GT Qualifier Radials. What say you?... Danny

General Discussion / Interior parts differ from '67 & '68
« on: December 31, 2014, 10:44:23 PM »
I just got an armrest pad from a new Camaro parts connection. Nice pad, no cracks. Had a deep storage crease in it, so I heated it up and worked it and worked it and got it flat in about 45 minutes. Went to install it and it's longer than mine. Mine has a little " 8 " embossed in the underside plastic. The one I bought has a " 7 " in the same location. It is longer than the '68 and sticks over and looks like dog squeeze! Mine drops right in snug and actually sort of clicks/locks in position. And lines right up and ready to accept screws. Am I answering my own question? Are they different in size?... Danny

I am trying to locate wiper blade refills, as I now have the correct holders instead of the red dots. I was told by a guy with many old parts that he has all 3 styles. Anybody know about this, and if so, what are the cut-offs for the dates? Or was it the case of several suppliers and what ever was in the bin at the time of assembly got installed? My car is an 05E. .. Danny

General Discussion / 1968 Camaro Z/28 Sequoia Green
« on: December 25, 2014, 07:25:34 AM »
This car only has about 10,000 Miles on it. Why did they do a resto? Engine VIN stamp looks too close to the back for the gang stamp to clear. Re-stamp? .. Danny

General Discussion / Which old car would you choose?
« on: November 23, 2014, 07:40:41 AM »
I know these are not Camaro's. And this can be erased in a few days to save valuable space. However I have a chance to get one or ALL of these cars. But if you had to pick 2 or 3, which ones would they be? I am leaning towards the Chrysler New Yorker Deluxe "El Camino Style"?? I didn't know they made one. I am intrigued by that thing.. Danny

Decoding/Numbers / Anybody know how to date code a 60's Good Year tire?
« on: November 22, 2014, 08:46:57 AM »
I want to see if my spare is original to my car. Or at least DATED to my car. The code on the tire reads TY0549C  I read online that the "T" is '68 and the "Y" is May. Is that correct, and if so... what are the other numbers and letters? BTW I think I read that info on Team Chevelle... Danny

I want to get rid of my "Napa Auto Parts" light BLUE Plug wires and get a set of correct black reproduction. Is made in USA something to consider?
Price is with-in a few dollars.

"Bowtie Muscle Parts" says: Exact reproduction spark plug wire sets are manufactured to the original blueprint specifications. These sets are identical to the spark plug wires as they would have appeared on the vehicle when it shipped from the factory. They will look, fit and perform exactly as original.

"Heartbeat" says: Camaro spark plug wire set, dated 1-Q-68 for all 302, 307, 327, and 350 engines. These are high quality, assembly line correct reproductions of the original dated AC Delco spark plug wires. Our spark plug wires are a must if you plan on competing in any nationally judged car shows. These spark plug wires feature correct length, correct wire color, wire diameter, correct lettering, correct black 90 degree plug boots for small blocks applications as original. Made in the USA!

Also, is the transverse muffler that heartbeat sells good quality and fit? I can't find another company that makes one with that same approx. measurement of 24.5" X 10" X 4.25". And has the correct visual... Danny
