If you are looking for an exact replacement piston, the JE #123567 is the exact 302 factory replacement.  It is not a SRP piston but is the NHRA approved replacement piston for the 302ci engine.  It will give you the stock compression ratio of 11.1 and it has the original size ring grooves.

Originality / Re: DId a 69 Z use the capacitor on the coil?
« on: June 25, 2016, 08:38:55 PM »
So would it be safe to say that the capacitor may have been added to my coil bracket (pic that BillOhio posted #8) at some time?  and most likely for the purpose to preserve the points ?
The capacitor for the points is located on the plate under the distributor cap.  The one on the coil was for noise suppression on the radio.

My 07C original car has #3921801 stamped on it just like yours and it has the studs.  It appears to me that someone has trimmed yours down for some reason.

X2 on that method.  I bought a used race trailer that had decals all over it.  It took a long time to get them off but it worked.

General Discussion / Re: PTB stamps backwards P meaning?

If you enlarge the photo and look at the lower loop there is evidence of the top half of a "B" being cut off.  Look at the bottom loop at the point of where the top loop would have joined the bottom loop.....the arc of the loop is not very smooth, it is rather irregular like the top loop has been trimmed off there.  It also appears that the top part of the upper loop has been trimmed off at the upright....there is a bump on the left of the upright but the right side is fairly flat.

General Discussion / Re: CRG Shifter Report
« on: April 02, 2016, 06:32:12 PM »
As Ed said.....X2.  I have been accumulating 67 & 68 Muncie shifter parts and information for about ten years now and this data certainly verifies my findings.  There is one item that I noticed wasn't mentioned or included on the photos.....on the 68 AIM there is a spacer (#3941824) on the shifter rods.  Has the authors ever discovered the reason for this spacer?

Originality / Re: Muncie Shifter running production changes

I think I have an idea here- what if the shifter was hitting the front of the console shifter plate when going into reverse, first or third gear position? By adding a "Spacer" you could move the shifter handle back enough to clear the console plate.

On second thought, this would not be beneficial since both adjustment nuts are movable--
Yup....with the transmission levers in neutral position and the alignment rod inserted into the shifter gates the nuts on the swivel can be in only one position for perfect alignment.  Putting the spacer behind the swivel just moves the nut back while the swivel is still in it's same alignment state.

I'm starting to wonder if they were actually put on each of the rods and used to help avoid torque loading the rod when the rear nut was tightened to adjust the length. But the part is listed as a "Spacer" and only drawn up on one of the rods??? Seems to make no sense.
The part number is indeed only noted on one rod but it appears to me that it is drawn in on all three of the rods.....kinda faint but it seems to be there.  I have a collection of Muncie shifters and rods and one set has the spacer on all three rods.
