556  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: 68 396 radiator cap on: December 15, 2010, 02:02:58 AM
Can someone post a pic. of a correct RC 15 Radiator cap?  As stated earlier on this post I am seeing many different versions.  I'm assuming a correct cap should #1 be stainless, and #2 have Big ears.  Should it have raised letters"NEVER OPEN HOT" or recess stamped letters "TURN TIGHT" and "REMOVE SLOWLY"?   I am even seeing caps claiming to be NOS both ways.  What is correct?

Congrats Jerry, it's amazing what you've done with that car in a relatively short time.  Great photo History.  Best of luck on continuing this reign.
559  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: '67-'68-'69 Camaro HEADER Panel on: December 03, 2010, 01:05:11 AM
binky3>  Date codes are 2 digit for the week of the year.  ie; 46 would be week 46, probably mid November.  Panel date codes are usually 2 to 4 weeks prior to build date of car.

RonM>  I would say look a little closer, your Date should possibly be 26.  The 2 might not be as visible for some reason.

I would still be interested in a standard '67 set also.
563  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Date code on '67 Steering Gear box on: November 06, 2010, 12:12:30 AM
rskev> The box was painted black over rust, so I started with Zip Strip paint remover.  Then several times of spraying on Muratic acid, followed by Krud Kutter , a Must for Rust, rust remover.  The nice thing about the Krud Kutter, a Must for Rust, is you don't rinse it off.  Allow it to Sun dry or wipe it dry with old rags, it leaves some kind of coating that inhibits the part from quickly surface rusting again.  It can be wire brushed and painted over.  I intend to paint the box with Cast Blast, the box is supposed to be natural cast finish.  The top cover (Aluminum), and the round front cover also (Aluminum) should be left natural.

565  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Correct Window Molding clips on: November 03, 2010, 02:31:40 PM
I have an early build (11A - 66) '67 Coupe no Vinyl Roof.  I am trying to find out what are the "correct" Windshield side and upper molding clips.  Also "correct" Rear Window molding clips.  Anybody have part #'s ?   I'm seeing different ones offered, and they don't coorespond with what is on the car.  Maybe they have been changed.
566  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: Q-Jet Date Codes on: November 02, 2010, 11:09:29 PM
I am also looking at a couple of #7029202 DH carbs. ,  the date supposedly is on the base plate.  One is 032   2,  the other is 2   22G.  I'm assuming the first is julian date 032 or 1 st. of Feb., what's the extra 2?   The second I'm assuming the date 22G is the 22 nd. of July, again, what's that first 2 for?  Thanks for any help!

Can anybody give a quick lesson on how to read these Brake Drum date codes?  ie; W-12X , W-14X , W-1X
568  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Date code on '67 Steering Gear box on: October 28, 2010, 10:59:51 PM
I am restoring a LOS 11A build '67 Coupe.  I have found and decoded many of the correct date codes.  I am now in the process of cleaning up and restoring the P. Steering Gear box.  I found the date code stamped on the aluminum cover on top, it is 276 6 (I will attach picture).  I went to a 1966 Julian calendar and figured out that day 276 was a Sunday, could that be right?
569  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: Reproduction Seat Belt Tags on: October 23, 2010, 02:00:00 AM
>tim69camaro;  that is a Motor City Muscle listing which is in actuality a branch of InLine Tube.  I bought some of these tags, the printing is nice and near correct, but the fabric is not silk (or whatever)like originals.  It is a vinyl with a finish made to look like silk.
570  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: 67 vent window frames on: October 12, 2010, 11:48:12 PM
OER now lists the complete reproduction Assembly for $179.95.  Has anyone had experience with these?  I have all the original parts, but it is very expensive to get them replated.
