General Discussion / Anyone heard of Mod top added to 25 th. Z28?
« on: November 23, 2014, 12:27:22 AM »
I was on Facebook 1 st. Gen. Camaro page this afternoon, and they started talking about Mod tops on early Camaros.  I had never heard of this.  During the conversation one pic. was posted of a Gold '67 Camaro with White stripes that look correct.  Further into the conversation I was directed to site where the pic. originally came from, where it stated that the car was believed to be the 25 th. Z28 built delivered to Funston Chevrolet.  Not saying it was a "factory installed" vinyl top, but it seems there were quite a few "Dealer installed" Mod tops.

(I think this car may be the 25th Z-28 built, which was in fact shipped to Jim Funston Chevrolet. Notice the snow on the ground? This suggests a January-February timeframe. On the side it looks like it may say "Kar Topper". Lots of interesting stuff like body color rally wheels, gold line tires instead of the usual redlines, & white stripes when they should be black. I see shoulder belts too. Pretty cool but wonder what happened to it.)

General Discussion / Day on the Farm
« on: October 12, 2014, 11:43:11 PM »
I thought this was kinda cool.  My wifes family has a tradition every year they call Day on the Farm. Her brother still lives on family farm that dates back to 1883. Today (Oct. 12) is Old Farmers Day. And her brother got married today at "D o t F".  Anyhow, my son got this pic. of the Camaro.  The pic. is not pixelated, it has a little mist of rain on it.

General Discussion / White paint on 67 LOS Cowl Tag
« on: October 03, 2014, 10:40:00 PM »
I certainly don't want to open an old wound about White paint on the Cowl Tag.  But, i read completely through the thread about White paint on the Norwood Cowl Tags, and saw no  mention if it was also done at Van Nuys.  My LOS Cowl Tag looks as if it had white paint under the black.

Mild Modifications / Swapping a 700R 4 into a 67
« on: August 14, 2014, 08:16:19 PM »
i have been considering swapping a 700 R 4 Trans. into my 67.  It will be bolted behind my original 327 engine now pushing 400 hp.  I now have a "built" TH 350 in there, backed by a 4:11 Posi rear-end.  Looking for a little better Gas mileage, and lower RPM's on the road.  Many people have told me this would be a great combo.  My question is; I just heard that I may have to do some modifying to the Trans Tunnel to get it to fit.  Is this right???  I really don't like the idea of doing that.

Have a Happy and safe 4 th. of July, Independence Day all.  Glad to live in a country where we are free to pursue our "dreams" and "hobbies".  Sorry, this is the only Red, White and Blue Camaro I could find.

This is all the info. I have been able to find so far.
A:  Zepelak’s Chevrolet opened on Roosevelt Road, ˝ mile west of York Street in July 1963.  A full-page advertisement in the Elmhurst Press (July 18, 1963) urged readers to “See Us At The Newest – The Largest – The Most Beautiful – The Greatest Chevrolet Dealership…ZEPELAK’S".
Any help would be greatly appreciated!   Thanks!

Decoding/Numbers / Need some help with Engine Pad stamp
« on: May 01, 2014, 11:58:59 PM »
I'm helping a friend detail a '67 SS 396 Chevelle he just bought.  I know some of you guys are real good at decoding engine pad stamps.  I've never seen one like this.  The last 4 digits are stamped really deep and a little larger.  The pics. I've posted aren't that great, I apologize for that.  The stamp reads TO228IVR   6R20  4213   You can make out in second pic. the last 4 digits are way deeper and little larger.  The casting # is correct for a '67 396 Block.  Any help is appreciated.

General Discussion / Free to good home- H.O. poster
« on: April 28, 2014, 09:32:31 PM »
Wife and I are doing some "spring cleaning", we are going to have a Garage Sale.  In going through stuff I found this poster, still in tube. Not sure when I got it/ picked it up.  Anyhow, I thought of you H.O. guys here on the Forum.  You are welcome to it for the shipping cost.  You can probably read it on the poster, but just in case, it is a Franklin Mint poster of their 69 Z/28 Die-Cast (actual pic.) it measures 28 in. X 22 in.   Hope someone enjoys having it.

General Discussion / Had Camaro out first time
« on: April 28, 2014, 03:51:55 AM »
Wife and I took a little "Road Trip" yesterday, about 75 miles.  Stopped by at one of our favorite "Cruise Night" spots.   Got tired of waiting for nice weather, it was nice for one day.  They are calling for chance of rain all of next week.  And yes, it's been raining off and on all day today and windy.  Not the best pic., taken with phone.

Restoration / Can 67 SB Engine Frame mounts be accidently switched?
« on: March 10, 2014, 04:36:46 AM »
This has been bothering me for some time now.  When I first got the car together I had some overheating issues, nothing major it hit 200 a few times.  When I'd get it out on the road it'd cool right down, I have a 180 Thermostat.  I finally figured out that the Fan was not "in" the Shroud far enough (ie: half way).  I added a 1 1/2 in. spacer and have had no issue since.  When I put the car together I used all original or correct parts, so what has been bothering me is WHY did I need that extra 1 1/2 in.?  The other night the thought came to me, that maybe the Engine Frame mounts got switched side to side. Is this possible?  Has anyone run into this?  As I remember there was no issue with the bolt holes lining up.  AND, if that did happen, would the Trans. Crossmember still line up with no issue?  As I said the car is running fine now with no issues, this just "bugs" me that I needed that spacer.  Any ideas are appreciated.  I'm a little OCD and I just want it right.  My wife bought me a T-shirt for Christmas says; I have OCD and ADD,  so everything has to be perfect, but only for a little while.  Fits!!!   Thanks!

BTW; this pic. is of repops, mine were the originals.

General Discussion / Would this considered relatively early build?
« on: February 01, 2014, 01:36:38 AM »
I know this is not really early build, and I know there are several "earlier", but I have not seen many 4 digit Build #'s.

General Discussion / CAMARO Performers Jan. '14 issue pg. 16
« on: December 29, 2013, 04:00:49 AM »
I usually don't buy this mag., CAMARO Performer but my brother-in-law gave me this one as a Christmas gift.  Looking through it I found on pg. 16 in an article titled Off the Line, a Rare colored photo of a 67 Camaro on the Fisher Body side of the LOS plant.  They say that they assume this is very early in production because there is only one worker on the line.  I am going to try to scan the pic. and post it here in the near future.
