« on: October 02, 2009, 09:31:49 AM »
I am restoring my '67 standard Grille.   I am using an NOS #3891693 center Grille.   The Grille has 3 extra tabs with no holes in them on one edge of the backside, do these tabs go on the top or on the bottom?   Thanks for any help!

Decoding/Numbers / 67 Lower Grille Molding
« on: September 17, 2009, 07:54:05 PM »
I am looking at a Lower Grille molding on EBay for '67 Standard Grille.  Picture looks to be for lower grille it is NOS in box part # 3914771.   The Camaro AIM states #3891692.  Did they change the part# somewhere along the line?

Decoding/Numbers / Early '67 Power steering box
« on: September 10, 2009, 05:17:25 AM »
I am currently in the process of doing a complete restoration of my Early (no holes in frame horns)'67 Sub-frame.  Today I was cleaning up the Power Steering box, so I have some #'s for you if you're interested.   The car is an 11A (66) LOS built.   It has (according to your report the correct;   5691676 casting.  It has a 266 casting date, on the cover it has 276 6 (I believe that is actual build date?)(and would be 276 day of 66?)   Which I believe would be correct for the 11A build date of the car?   There is a 13 stamped under the 5691676, I'm not sure what that means.   I hope this info. is helpful.

Originality / Heater Box Pal nut coating
« on: August 23, 2009, 03:47:51 AM »
Can someone tell me what was the correct coating on the Heater Box Pal nuts?   I have cleaned mine up pretty good, without used chemicals or sandblasting, and they look to have been Black Phosphate.   All replacements I have seen look to be Nickel or Silver Cad. plated.   Thanks for any help.

Originality / Production #'s for Column shifted Powerglide
« on: August 17, 2009, 11:15:37 PM »
Maybe I haven't looked in the right place.   I don't find a report that separates '67 Column shifted Powerglide from Floor shifted.   I wasn't curious until I saw this '67 Camaro listed on EBay, very similar optioned car.   Claims that there were only 600 built with a column shifted Powerglide.  I was wondering where he found that #.   Doesn't seem to me that the base V-8(327 - 2 bbl.) with a Column shifted base Auto. trans. would be all that rare.   Any input is appreciated!

Originality / Correct starter for '67 - 327
« on: August 17, 2009, 04:51:27 AM »
I have found conflicting #'s for the right starter for my '67 - 327 2bbl..    Camaro Restoration Guide (Motorbooks) says #1108367,  AIM lists #1107496 for Hi-perf. & Man. trans., and my Cars & Parts Chevy V-8 Engine casting #'s (55-93) lists #1107320.   Can anyone tell me what is right?   The original 327 actually had a '65 - 6 cyl. starter #1107259 on it when I got the car.  I was surprised to find that these were inter-changeable.   Thanks!

Originality / Early '67 Sub-frame
« on: August 17, 2009, 04:37:58 AM »
  I am sending post in reply to info. on early '67 Sub-frame report.   My R-R(Bolero Red) '67 was built 11A (66) in LOS, it is basically a standard Coupe(12437) with 327 - 2 bbl. with Powerglide, Tinted Windshield (only),cowl tag Reads like this;
        11A               A638
  ST  67-12437 LOS 8032   BODY
  TR  760-Z               R-R   PAINT
        W  2M
It has the early Sub-frame horns (no holes),  also I'd like to add that it has the metal Bucket seat backs.  hope this adds to your report.

Originality / Correct 67 Control Arm Shaft
« on: August 05, 2009, 07:11:13 AM »
I am in the process of doing a complete restoration of my early '67 Sub-frame.  Per the report here it matches all the spefics of an earlly '67 Sub-frame. (ie; no holes on inside of frame"horns")   I have completely dis-assembled the front suspension.  I just received the Control Arms(A-frames) and Control Arm shafts back from having all the bushings pressed out.   And I just noticed the 2 shafts are different.  1 is more straight across the top and bottom edges, and 1 is more "dog-bone" shaped.  The first has some Gm part #'s -381904 GM 35 D on one side, and 1038 on the other.  the second has no part #'s that I can see.  I am attaching a picture.  I believe that first or top shaft in picture is the correct shaft, can anyone confirm this?   Thank you!!!!

Decoding/Numbers / AR stamped on Plug Wire Looms
« on: June 21, 2009, 05:12:46 AM »
I have what I believe are the original Spark Plug wire looms for my '67 Camaro 327.   The 2-wire Looms that fasten to the out side Valve Cover hold-down bolts have an AR stamped on them.   Can somebody tell me what this AR stands for?   Thanks.

Originality / Correct Seat Belts???
« on: May 09, 2009, 05:43:56 AM »
Has the Seat Belt report been updated recently?   I have an 11A -67 Camaro Coupe built in LOS, I actually think the car was built the first day of Nov. due to the A638 code in upper right corner.   Anyhow, my question is,   The seat belts are ROBBINS   1967   MODEL# 310 front, and #311 rear.   Date Code 40D66.   I have read your report on Seat Belts, and it states that ROBBINS seat belts were used in other Chevrolet lines but not in the Camaro.    These belts appear in every way to be what was original to the car, could they be correct?   The car has been in my family for the past 21 years, and they were not changed during that time.   And it just doesn't seem to make sense that someone would go to the trouble of changing out Seat Belts and coming up with the correct date codes.   I'm finding almost everything else on the the car is coding out correct.   Thanks for any help!

Decoding/Numbers / 15 X 6 DC Rally Wheels
« on: April 20, 2009, 04:54:29 AM »
I have done some research on the 15 X 6 Rally Wheels.  I pretty sure the correct 15 X 6 Rally's for a '67 Z/28 were coded DF.   I have 3, not a matched set, that are coded DC as follows:   K17  12   (stem)  7   DC
                                                                                  K18  4    (stem)  24  DC
                                                                                  K18  8    (stem)  20  DC
From research I have done I believe that the  first Wheel codes out,  Dec. 7 -67.   #2 Wheel I believe is Apr. 24 -68.   #3 Wheel Aug. 20 -68.    I have found information that the 15 X 6  DC code was used on Corvettes in '66 & '67, but I believe that Corvette went to 15 X 8 Wheels in '68, which these wheels code out to be.    Anybody have any ideas?   Thanks!

Decoding/Numbers / VIN vs. Cowl Tag Build #
« on: April 17, 2009, 05:41:20 AM »
I read the report here on this subject, which left me just as confused as before.   It is a 11A - 12437 LOS car, the seq. build # 8032, which in no way correlates with the VIN.#113583.(why is this so)   I guess my question is, as far as all Camaros built in '67, where does this one stack up as far as early????

Which ID tag is correct for a '67 - 12 bolt rear?    I have a Red quarter circle tag that fits on the fill level / sight plug.   But I also see a little metal tag that fastens on one of the rear cover bolts also listed for '67 Camaro.   Which is correct?    Or should it have both??   If the little metal tag is correct, which bolt should it be fastened on?    I appreciate any help, Thanks!

General Discussion / I need help identifying Rochester 2GV carb.
« on: January 16, 2009, 04:43:32 AM »
I have located a carb, I believe is correct for my car, but it is missing the tag.   Is there any other way of identifying it?   I am told this carb. came off of a '67 Chevy II with a 283 and a Powerglide, which would have used the same carb. as my 327 - 2 bbl. with a Powerglide.    I have a Car&Parts Catalog of Chevy V-8 Engine Casting Numbers, and from other research I have done I believe this carburetor is either a 7027110 or 7027114, and I believe this would be the correct carb. for my car.  The original stock air cleaner was on the car.   I have a '67 Camaro Coupe that came with the standard 327 2bbl. / 210 hp. with a Powerglide trans. built first week of Nov. '66.    When I got the car, and before I learned how to do much, research it came with a newer intake and carb., which I have since learned came off of a '72 Chevy(was used on several models).   From all pictures I have seen, I would guess it is indeed the right carb. for my car, it has a brass elbow with a PVC Valve coming out of the center of the back of the Base Plate.   The Bore in the Base Plate actually measures 1 3/8",  I found a number on the bottom of the Fuel Bowl   703 1734 (the first 7 is lager than the other #'s) does this # have any meaning?   Ther is a larger C on the front half of the throttle plates, and a 6 * (6 degree) on the back half.  There is a G-5 on the upper part of the Linkage(Drivers)side of the Fuel Bowl (Main Body).  There is C above the # 33318 on the linkage end of the Throttle shaft.  I don't see any other 3's or identifying marks other than the GM 2 JET and ROCHESTER on top of the fuel bowl.  I think I forgot to mention it does have the Passenger side fuel inlet.  I hope somebody can give me some help on this.   Thanks much!!! ???  Mike

Originality / Correct Distributor?
« on: November 08, 2008, 06:22:09 AM »
I am concerned as to whether the distributor on my car is correct.   The car was built 11A (first week of Nov. 66), the engine is a 210 hp. 327 -2 bbl. (base engine) suffix code ME, and yes it has a powerglide.   The date code on the engine is J 17 6 which I believe codes out as Oct. 17 -66 which would be correct for the car build date.( I believe)   Alternator is standard 37 Amp. dated 6K21 (I believe correct)   My concern main is the distributor.   Information I have been able to gather tells me this engine should have a part # 1111443 distributor,  the one on the car is a # 1111150 and it is dated 6 G 15 isn't that pretty early to be on this engine?   Thanks for any help.
