1  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: 69 Z/28 302 internals on: September 07, 2013, 07:29:04 PM
1178 is the factory installed 1969 302 Crank number.
Pistons have been found with TRW or the GM part number, they are full floating pins correct? the pins spin in the rod and the piston, there will be spiral or internal ring retainers on both sides of the piston skirt without which the pin would fall out.

Yes they are floaters
2  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / 69 Z/28 302 internals on: September 07, 2013, 05:37:53 PM
Hey everyone looking for some help here. I tor down my 302 today which is the born with engine in my Z. I am wondering if what I have is factory engine internals or not. I was not shocked to see the can has been changed out but I am trying to figure out if everything else is untouched.

The crank is the 1178 crank it measures 2.450 on the mains and 2.0995 on the rods so that is standard...Right?

Bearings were GMM 0400 & I think GMM 0200 I think that's what they read...

Pistons are standard bore but they are all TRW pistons on the inside they all say TRW...Is this right?

I would like to just ring and bearing this engine and keep as much as I can.. Can anyone tell me if this engine would have left the factory this way?

Thanks

Angelo
3  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: 1969 Z/28 YH Wheels on: April 06, 2013, 12:02:00 PM
Would it be acceptable for one wheel to be dated 5/4 which is the date on my spare that came with the car and the other four to be dated 4/21 as these wheels are? Or should all the wheels be dated the same day?

Looks OK Angelo but only one pic of stamping around stem. One has curb rash as he noted but the dates should work well IMO.
He has a reserve and maybe he has run them before but the price might really change in the last few hours/minutes...
Good luck

Thanks for your help!

All

I am in need of help. I have a 69 Z/28 with one original wheel the spare. It looks to be dated K-1-9  5/4. My car is a 06A build Z/28. I found these wheels on EBAY and they are being represented as orginal 4/21 wheels. Could any one look at these wheels and tell me if they are real. I am a little skeptical just at the fact that the current bid is not higher? If they real would it be acceptable for my car to have four wheels with date code 4/21 and one with date code 5/4.

PLease give me some feed back on this.

Thanks

9  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / White or Black Stripes on a Rallye Green Z/28 with a black top. on: October 12, 2009, 03:27:33 PM
Frist off I hope that I am posting this in the right place, I have been reading this sight for some time but this is my frist post here.  I have a 69 Z/28 that I bought in 1993 that I have been useing for a shelf as I slowly get all the parts I need to bring this car back to life right, as it left Noorwood. My question is would it have be born with white or black stripes?  I would have thought it would have had black stripes with a black top and blak interior but I have never seen a Rallye Green Z with black stripes!  When I bought the car some one had repainted it red with black stripes so I can't go off the car.

Any help would be greatful, and thanks for a great site.
