Foreign Camaros / Re: Is this the first 69 Camaro sold direct to Sweden?
« on: August 08, 2013, 03:39:24 PM »
I also noted additional bumper mounted rear reflectors? or lights?    Are these peculiar to Swedish sold cars?  or obvious owner add-on's for some reason?   The rear mounted driver side whip antenna was also peculiar...?

and shown below is the assembled view.   The 'collapsed length' of my antenna is 18" from tip to the top of the retainer nut.

Because of your questions on the Camaro AM antennas, I pulled my parts out yesterday and took some photos:
antenna mast tip, antenna mast lower end with other parts,  mount and retainer from lower side with PNs, antenna connector showing 'chevy bowtie script'.  I could not find a PN on the mast itself, nor on the cable connector, but mine had an A-1 on the side opposite the bowtie emblem.  PN on the base (which fits against the fender) is:   3937665.   The pn on the lock wasn't entirely legible, but might have been 3943655.

Check it and post all the codes you can find..   PN, and all others.. and whether it's stamped into the metal, paint/ink
 stamped on, or ??

And yes the masts themselves were the same between Camaro and fullsize

Thanks guys. Really good info. How's it going Warren? I didn't think there would be any differences really but just had to ask. I'm still curious about the tip though. Shaun from the SS427 website had one I bought that has no groove on the tip and was wondering why. Looks good overall and the tip looks the same as the ones posted but no groove. Just one of those curious observations I get. Should there be a groove or not? Probably need more info.

This website is great. I can't say enough about all the help you guys have given me in the past even for the common parts that fit other vehicles, this is the place to find stuff out. No messing around here, just straight to the point.

There was an earlier thread a couple of months ago pertaining to the antenna tip being grooved or not.   As I recall, some original cars had each.  My 09C original car has a non grooved tip.

Updating the Windshield Wiper Motor data list with CROB's info..  since he didn't do it himself..  :)
(and I noticed the Julian date code on his motor is about a month prior to car build date, and stickers were used as early as May)

Please add your information to the bottom of the chart and repost for the data point collection....

Car build date    NOR/LOS      RS?       sticker PN?       Stamped PN?                 Other codes

       09C              NOR              Y         5045605                   N                      227      9     6      A

Originality / Re: 'yellow light' AM/FM radio?
« on: August 07, 2013, 01:31:47 AM »
This is also mentioned in John Hoopers book The 1969 Camaro reference book, along with how many were sold( 8271 yellow, vs 2359 blue). The yellow also had a different option number of RPO U69, and the blue was RPO U79. It might be a handy book to have in your library.
John Hoopers book covers some different aspects than Jerrys, I wouldn't say one is better than the other, most of the info is similar of coarse, but Hoopers book has some neat little tid bits, like the RS option added almost 30lbs to the curb weight of the car along with many other interesting options and facts. You may find it a good read as well.

I've had that book since it was first published, and I probably read it cover to cover way back, but obviously didn't pay enough attention to the am/fm radios, since my car only had the am... :)

Originality / 'yellow light' AM/FM radio?
« on: August 06, 2013, 12:56:09 PM »
A few days ago, a friend suggested that there were yellow light am/fm radios, that may have been used part of the year on 1969 Camaros.   All I've ever heard or seen were blue light.   Is there any truth to that??

Steve,

Add your data to the listing for all your motors, and add the additional column.   easier now than when the list is larger *G*

General Discussion / Re: Heartbeat City reputation
« on: August 06, 2013, 01:33:48 AM »
If I'm not mistaken, there is a company which makes a lot of these parts which has the name "REPOP"...    Repro' is a more appropriate abbrev for Reproduction, and REPLACEMENT parts are not necessarily 'reproduction' either, if they simply replace the intended function, without a concerted effort to replicate the look, mfg, etc as well.

Updating the list with my assembly plant (NOR)...

Perhaps we can start off some data point collection, following on from Gary's chart?
If we can add the sticker details here, it may start to indicate a date range for sticker use....
Gary - I also added in column for final assembly plant.
Car build date    NOR/LOS      RS?       sticker PN?       Stamped PN?                 Other codes

       09C              NOR              Y         5045605                   N                      227      9     6      A

Ed,

In that 'clean copy' of the IBM card you referenced, I saw no evidence to document the equipment on the car, just the VIN... or did I miss the part with the engine/trans/etc.. ?

Kurt identified the 'paper' found to be 'an ibm card', not the broadcast or build sheet?   and it definitely has the punch holes and cut corners of an ibm computer card.. BUT it seems to serve the same purpose as the build/broadcast sheet, in that it identifies the car and it's parts, and confirms it is an original car!  OR am I wrong?
so given that this is a Norwood car, which supposedly NEVER had build sheets..  What is the possibility of finding such a card in an original car?  and where else besides under the carpet should we look?   How many cars have been found and identified via cRG as having such a card?

I can only provide one data point for a data base.
My original 09C (*Sept 17, 1969) Z28 / RS  has the silver pn sticker and date code on the wiper motor.
photo is attached.   Sticker PN:  5045605,    also has '227   9   6   A' printed on it.
'227   9  ' might be the Julian date and year (15 Aug '69), which would correspond well to my mid Sept built car, but that's just a guess on my part.
If you begin a data collection on this, I'd suggest collecting the car build date, RS or not, PN on the sticker, along with the other data, and maybe we can begin to make sense of the information?   eg.

Car build date        RS?       sticker PN?       Stamped PN?                 Other codes

       09C                     Y         5045605                   N                      227      9     6      A
